It's my first year. What do I need to know? I literally know NOTHING.

READ! Its the best advice. The survival guide like AntiM said, plus read these posts. The Eplaya is a plenthra (am i spelling that right? I officially need coffee) of knowledge. I have learned so much from these people. Like taping the vents on your tent BEFORE you go to help keep out some dust, get a case for your camera thats waterproof or get a disposable one if you want pictures, bring cash for ice and coffee (THE ONLY TWO THINGS THAT ARE AND CAN BE SOLD ON THE PLAYA), get a bucket you can go to the bathroom in at night so you don't have to camp right next to the port-a-potties or walk across the playa at night to use the bathroom, spray vinegar on your feet and wipe it off to clean them, lotion them often and change your socks twice a day.

Bikes are not required to have fun but they help you get around and see all you want to see, so if you can, bring one. Remember to bring an emergency kit in case of minor injury including aloe gel incase you get a burn. Sunscreen is your friend. If your using an air mattress, use a flitted flat sheet that is fleece or a fleece blanket to sleep ontop of to help you stay warm at night.

Pack two sets of clothes per day for your stay on the Playa. It can be VERY hot during the day and below freezing at night. When you hit the last two hours of your trip, start to drink lots of water and keep drinking water on the Playa even if you think your not thirsty or you will wake the second morning with a pounding headache.

And most of all, forget most of the hype about the "party in the desert" and please talk to people about what it is. It is not a massive party or a place where you can go with basics and everyone else will take care of you. Be self-sufficient and give back to the community however you can.

Hope to see you soon!

Thank you. See newbies can be taught! Oh and I fully admit to being a horrible speller especially before my morning cup of coffee.

Don't want to burst any bubbles here, but there are other things sold on the playa...
