Shaving at Burning Man
Does anyone have any tips on how the best way to shave your face is at burning man? It'll just be me in a tent so no RV with bathroom or anything like that. I can't go all week without shaving cause it will itch too much. Normally I use a gillete razor and a decent shave cream after a shower. Anyone care to share how they do it without wasting too much water?

I've never understood needing huge amounts of water to shave. Or inch thick foam on the face.
Heck, with the dissolving "smooth strips" on Gillette and most everything else, just a TINY bit (think 4 or 5 raisins worth) of shaving gel, or shampoo for that matter, is enough. Dr. Bonners burns a little, but is quite good, and just a few drops is all it takes.
A small bowl of water to dip the razor in when face starts drying from lack of inch thick foam. The water will transfer to the face and the plastic strip will do its thing.
There really is no need to "flush out" the whiskers from the razor. They will not clog it up. Running water over razors must be one of the biggest wastes of water in the USA, next to efficient toilets which need to be flushed twice LOL.
Try it at home. Also, learn to shave without a mirror....very easy...

Beard trimmer or electric razor.
Shaving causes more problem than trimming.
The good ones get very close without itching.
Andis or Wahl.
Corded is bulletproof.
Battery is handy.
Be sure to get the right blade, a finer size.
T type is okay.

Don't laugh.
Same products with different part number from barber supplies and lower cost.
Or try Sally's beauty supplies.

on top of the last post- and shave by feel. Shave it blind, methodically, then run your fingertips around finding the rough bits. And use a damp cloth to wipe off whatever your razor didn't get. Two small bowls of water. One for initial wash and razor dipping, one for cleaning your rinse cloth.
I do shave once or twice each year on the playa.

My God, it's full of Stars!
I can't use a multi-blade razor without it clogging up no matter what I do.DoctorIknow wrote: There really is no need to "flush out" the whiskers from the razor. They will not clog it up. Playa makes it much worse.
I can only use a single blade style, harder to find, but they always work better.

So, being a little tiny bit of a sparkle pony, or maybe just a sex addict, I shaved my legs in the middle of the week. I actually can't remember exactly how I did it...
Well anyways, I use an expensive girly razor with the goopy strip. I used a cup of hot water, shave, dip, shave, dip, etc. and chilled out with a daquiri. Then liberally apply moisturizer. You can also use shaving oil, which I get at my local camping store or somewhere like Trader Joe's or whatever hippy store you guys have in the states

with a stove? or just leave it out in the sun in a steel waterbottle for a while?Raven9940 wrote:How do you get it hot?
I feel sooooo much better when I wash my face with hot water once a day, or make tea, or hot chocolate. The stove I bring is a little single burner top that screws onto a liquid propane gas canister- it's ridiculously small and easy to use, and works ok even if it's a bit windy.
Are you really not bringing a stove? Wow, minimalist!

If your face starts to itch, apply vodka liberally. But not to your face.
I use a double edge razor. As mentioned, Dr. Bronners works. Heat a little water, wash your face with the peppermint soap, work a little more in and get a little soapy lather, shave. Probably won't be the best shave you've ever had, but be creative. Radical self reliance.
I have a friend who shaves his face and head every day. It is possible.
