clothing
we made most of ours from thrift store buys and old crap from the closet. Its more fun making something unique. If you lack the patience, have your camp...or start one yourselves; a clothing swap/party. Or just have a party and see whose clothes you end up home in and worry about playa wear later.

Haha, well I'm gonna fail in your eyes then. I've worked hard to make my night coat, and since it's my main form of illumination I'm going to be in it every night I'm there. Come to think of it, I love my coat. How dare you try and part me from my coat.

My day playawear is basically shoes, underwear thats very very bright, and a belt or scarf. My night clothes I am still working on but I have enough fleece to make very warm thermals as backup incase my thin thermals don't work.
BTW how dirty will white get on the playa? I assume extremely dirty. I'm thinking of getting white fur boot covers so I don't have to worry about coordinating them with outfits and just saying screw the dirt and dust. I can go with black but I'm trying to keep black out of my outfits at the Playa and force myself into bright things I might not normally wear. If I'm trying new things, I might as well take the full leap. I even bought pink.

In that case you'll have to come hang out all day, every day, lol.
I think that the playa dusty faded look is perfect, or almost necessary, for the desert
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

Quick Upgrade To Thrift Store Duds:
-Get duds
-Hit craft store (or dumpster) for Little Decorative Bits
-Hit hardware store for GOOP adhesive
-Use GOOP to attach bits (beads, mirror tiles, lengths of flexible electrical conduit, plastic dinosaurs...it's all good)
-Let dry (allow overnight. Moving air helps with setup. Cheap little plastic spring clamps=Super Handy))
-Add LEDs or EL "to taste"
-Serve. Enjoy! Bon Appetite!
-NOTE: Laundering will be made "difficult".

Big Brim Hat with chin strap.
Padded sunglasses.
Bandana.
Neutrogena SPF 70 sunblock.
CamelBack.
Something to wrap my private bits; Kilt, skirt ... Whatever.
Good boots.
Rinse and repeat.
Done.
This sounds like a good way to go for day wear.
I'm planning a similar attire for the day, except around camp either bare foot or sandals!

The eternal BM question is, Do you go practical or whimsical? Striped tights, tutu and corset look sooo cool, but will I be miserable in the brutal desert for days on end like this? I see both types in pictures, but not sure which I should be.
Is it better to choose form or function?

I find corsets too restricting. I'm always lifting something big or climbing art pieces and the like and a corset never stays in the right place. Out of bodice experiences are much better when it's not a bearded six foot five guy falling out of his garment.
What I do love is a good flamenco dress with my knee high New Rock platform boots. Definition of sexy man
tu-tus are also very nice and airy.

I brought way too much clothing with me last year - ended up wearing two "costumes" and the rest was such comfy wear. Wore the same ensemble most nights.
The most essentials pieces of clothing I brought:
- Ankle-length Fur coat (it gets cold at night)
- Goggles
- Sandals
- Good flat, closed toe boots/shoes
- bathing suits (small to pack, awesome in the sun, better than cotton underwear! And Target/thrift sell them cheap before the Burn)
- Cowboy hat (essential in the sun)
- Zip hoodie
- Wrap pants - I made a few pairs of these in light fabrics and they were my favorite thing to wear during the day.
- Scarves - boob covers, get-that-dratted-hair-outta-my-face bandanas...
