question about fire

im a newbie to BM,.... and im sure if i looked more could find an answer to my question....

can anyone tell me what the rules on things like fire poi are at burning man? or where i might direct a question as such to?

i also wanting to do a fire flogging demo at the camp, but want to make sure its allowed before i do all the prep for it

It's all been done before. Just make sure you're 25 feet from any tents or structures and someone on safety (preferably with a fire extinguisher, but a wet towel at the very least).

I recommend Duvetyne or Commando Cloth instead of the wet towel.

Wet towels get muddy real fast on the playa.

wet towels should never be used. Damp towels are what they mean.

Actually there are pretty strict rules against fire directly on the playa. You can damage the playa surface. Major fire effects need approval (right Doc?) So it's not a dumb question. Fire poi? No problem. Fire flogging? (I don't really want to watch the videos) - should be fine.

Just remember, safety third. Don't be stupid and light something on fire by accident. No fire poi in the tent. No fire flogging in the porta-potties.
