Who-What-Where ... when does it open? ... deadline 4 posts
Can anyone from the Burning Man management tell me with certainty:
1) When the Who-What-Where will open up for people to post events, and
2) More importantly, when will be the CUT-OFF FOR POSTING EVENTS in the Who-What-Where
Thanks in advance for the scoop.

I believe you post your events here:
http://playaevents.burningman.com/
and from what I've heard, the 2 week window to put events in the Burning Man events catalog begins on June 14. The catalog often fills up very quickly before the two weeks are up.

Yes, looks like the forms are all still from last year, but I would assume that they would be using the same softwares for this year after an update. I'm just guessing tho, have no inside knowledge.Dr. Pyro wrote:I think that is for last year. Now if I can get this damn time machine of mine to work again, I might go back and have some fun.
I do know of folks that got submissions in before the deadline last year that weren't included in the printed guide because it 'filled up'. It was frustrating because some bigger camps with well planned out events didn't get listed whilst an endless amount of junk "free booby massages" and the like listings did get in. Of course if they did start editing for brevity based on the perceived usefulness of the event I would imagine there would be even more bitching that some one's free booby massages 'workshop' didn't get listed.

My first year I went through the WWWW and noted all the things I wanted to do & see. By Weds I realized I had already been there for 4 days and hadn't done a single one. I haven't looked at the guide in all the years since.

Seems to be a popular sentiment here to dismiss the WWW as useless, claim to never use it etc. As many have patiently pointed out in other threads, what you read here does not mean it is true for the majority of BRC citizens.
For us the WWW is indispensible.Without it listing our events we would suffer greatly. This was proven in 2007 when the WWW was so screwed up it was,in this case, indeed useless. We have had multiple dozens of different campers through the years and it seemed like they were always using them.If someone lost one they were pissed.
If you don't need or use one please leave it for others.Historicaly the gate runs out of WWWs by about Thursday.

@UglyDougly - OK. Here's the first very rough cut: http://www.pleasuresofthefleshuniversit ... vents.html.
In my late-blooming camp, so far it's me and a few ambitious camp-mates. I could do most of these activities with who I have now, but I won't let my campmates spend all of their time at PoFU and miss the rest of Burning Man. So if the camp doesn't grow significantly in the next 4 - 6 weeks, I'm going to thin out the afternoon schedule.

I loved it too! We never made it to anything in the book (we did, but it was because we stumbled across it, not because it was in the book). We did, however, see what was "Socially Acceptable" for each day and made sure all camp mates participated. We had to explain what a queaf was to one of themSavannah wrote:I love the WWW guide. I might only make it to a few events, but that's worth it, and it's hilarious reading. Beyond memories and photos, the guides are my favorite souvenirs.
MADE OF LAME
So Placement just sent out a message that said it will open June 17th and close July 1st..TWO WEEKS EARLIER than last year... which to me is really blame. Our camp was just starting ot look at scheduling for the year because we thought we had till the normal day of July 15th.
This is going to cause a lot of undue stress..if they had just let us know a BIT EARLIER!

I'm sorry I didn't notice this earlier. The burningman management doesn't read this board with any sort of regularity. You can get good answers to all sorts of questions (and bad answers, too) but they aren't really Official Answers. Which may or may not be to the better.MaitreMaximillian wrote:Can anyone from the Burning Man management tell me with certainty:

They did announce it. Everything has been accelerated to accomodate all the snivelling from last year.veleda wrote:

Because, you know, there's never enough snivel at burningman.
