Bay area relocation.....check in....

Post by liamrh » Thu Jun 03, 2010 3:43 pm

.....if you would.

Hey there! Veteran burner from the Far Cold North who is relocation to the east/south bay area. I wanted to post up and see if any of the locals wanted to meet/talk/show me where to get drinks at clubs....been to the castro/soma. Lived in El Cerrito before...many years ago.

Loosely affiliated with "Cock and Waffles" and "Zoo Keeperz" based in Missoula Montana, my ex-home. My main camp has been "Heart Camp" at the 3:50 and H junction where we hosted a hula-hoop making workshop on thursday for the past few years. Hope some of you might have gotten a sweet twirl from us.

At any rate, given the concentration, maybe there is a stowaway burner spot for those of us without local connections?

I am also looking to volunteer on local projects if I can...of course. I grew up in Montana on a cold dark ranch so I am able to wield all sorts of percussive tools, saws, power assault weapons, and am an able mechanic and electrically inclined. I am also not afraid of manual labor. Additionally, I am skilled with logistics and can assist with anything in terms of planning. Oh...I worked in professional productions for six years too. Need help hanging a can? Gotta tell the hands where to go on the truck? Runner hasn't checked in yet? No one to do sound check?

Curious, that is similar to my resume....but of course it's full of technical jargon.

So hopefully someone hasn't posted the "cliff notes" emoticon yet in response if you have gotten this far. Let me know (fuck LMK) if there is any collaboration to be had, projects to build, or things to cook? (I like to cook too.)

Try hanging out on the rest of eplaya and interacting. The bar in open discussion is a good place to begin. Lots of the eplayans never venture into this section. Also, introductions gets responses.

Okay. I'll check it out. However, this is an introduction thread for repsonses and there seem to be a lot of people in this section with similar threads. Do you have a different suggestion as to which section in the forums that I should post too?

Liamrh, there are plenty of people with camps asking for help. Try reaching out to them rather thasn expecting them to recruit you. A friendly suggestion. :)

"meh"??

Trying to find the places to work is part of that crazy "radical self reliance" ethos. I didn't respond to your first post when I saw it mainly due to the "someone come & find wonderful me" attitude it seemed to exude. Your follow-up posts aren't shaking that opinion.

I see posts every day from camps looking for people to join them, help with their builds, etc. If you're really interested, go hunting. You'll find them on this very ePlaya, and probably find a good fit. You'll be able to use your skills for something potentially amazing out there.

If you sit here and wait for them to come to you, or wait for other people to do your ground research..... well, for me at least that puts you in the category of sparkle-ponies who post sobs stories on here asking for people they don't know to "gift" them something. They generally don't get what they want from the board.

lol.

After years of hosting workshops and giving away tons of stuff to people or helping them make it, or serving them food, repairing bikes and cars, all at the burn, your acerbic and arrogant response is trash. Further the implication that somehow you know who I am is cute. Not only did you miss the part where I tried to list skills that might be helpful, but did the fact that moving a family, jobs, and a house across the country might take priority of finding people who want to use up my freetime? Getting people to say "hello" and respond to your post is what an intro thread is for on every other board I have been too.

Maybe the direction this is taking from someone that is 1200 miles away trying to meet up with local burners and help out anyone who needed help in a huge metro area is wrong. But I digress.

Fuck your attitude. Lock it up mods. and sparkle ponies? creative....no.
