Upright Piano in Good Condition - Will Donate

Post by duststorm » Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:51 am

I have a upright Kimball piano in good condition. I'd be willing to donate it to a Burner/Artist who could turn it into an "Mutant Piano." Paint it (it's currently brown wood finish), cover it with art, whatever.

Only two conditions: You must agree to bring it up to BM and let people play it when it's up there. I know the conditions up there will probably take a toll on it over time but that's OK as long as it gets it's time up at the Playa.

Located in San Francisco.

Generous offer, Thanks (wrong coast here)

At the end of its playa adventure perhaps it could be set
on FIRE and launched airborne from a trebuchet. ! 8)

I heard 3rd hand this was done one year.

Hello Duststorm!

Great idea and a wonderful offer!

I'm already doing this with several pianos, but I could probably use one more!

Of course, I really think somebody else ought to do this with your piano. But if you get no taker at all, I would not want you to take it to the dump.

So far, I will have one piano in the Kamp Apokiliptika Kantina, one in my Mutant Vehicle "The Bigger Banana Piano Boat" (or some such silly name), and one in Kinetic Cab Company camp. There will also be one in Booby Bar -- either a Grand that belongs to somebody else, or one of mine.

All right folks; somebody take Duststorm up on his offer! I cannot be the only one who can transport a silly little piano!

You're the only one who would collect EIGHT of 'em though...

Naw.... I heard about a camp, some years ago, who built a structure that people could walk around inside -- built of nothing but pianos stacked like building blocks. There are just SO many unwanted pianos out there.

But a couple of my eight are in such rough shape they are going to serve as pinatas instead of pianos.

.I've seen the piano cannon videos.

It'd be fun but I've had this piano a long time and I'd like to live through a few Burns.

Yes Duststorm, if your piano is in decent condition, it ought to be reused many years. We so desperately need more "real music" on the Playa!

I'm up to ten pianos now -- the latest being a bright white Baby Grand that I had to cough up $49,- for. (So it is missing the lid and one leg -- big deal.)

But I have also assigned my worst one (an upright) to be dropped from a tower at Noon the morning after the Man Burn.

OMG I want a piano. Just one that I can play in my house!

Failing that, I will come play at least one of your pianos :D

Craigslist shows two low-priced pianos in your area -- $300 and $400.

Looks like I'll have five playable pianos in BRC.

Do you still need someone to take the piano? This sounds pretty fantastic, I might be up for it!
