Hey Everyone,
I just got a job in Chicago (moving from Montana) to follow my love, unfortunately she broke up with me about a minute after I told her the good news.
Anyway, I am now in Chicago, a bit broken-hearted, and don't know anyone here. I guess I am just looking for some people to hang out with and get to know.
I am up for pretty much anything.
All the best

I'm sorry. That is not nice. I've been there. Didn;t move to be near her but a broken heart is still a broken heart. I wish I'd live closer but I'm in Texas. But if your a burner, check out some of the regional sites or facebook groups. You'd be surprised what you might find.
Good luck and see you on the PLAYA in less than 3 MONTHS!!!

Damn that sucks! Almost as much as the fact that Lakes Of Fire, the Great Lakes Regional Burn is only a week away (but is sold out)! Never fear though, Chi Town is full of burning peeps and lovely burner events

Here's a good spot for you to start getting connected. Good luck and hope to see you at Lakes Of Fire 2011!

That is unfortunate... but I have already signed up on the site! I don't think I would be able to go to the regional anyway as I am already taking time off for Burning Man!SilverOrange wrote:Damn that sucks! Very sorry to hear about that, but I just hope that if you ever have the chance to make that mistake again, you'll make it all over. Didn't work out this time, but if you find youself thinking about how messed up things are now, just think of the guy who goes through life thinking about the one he didn't move to be with, the one who wouldn't have broken up with him, always wondering what might have been. You made the right choice. You just got unlucky, and the bad luck might not turn out to have been completely bad in the end. New possibilities.
Useful papers to pick up in that town: the Chicago Reader and New City, for the entertainment sections. Both of these are free. What you're looking for are the festival announcements, and maybe the literary events, if you're into that. Drop by the mayor's office of special events, and get a festival listing. Most of those will be a waste of time, but some of those will be the start of something good.
What are your interests, other than Burning? Large cities can be kind of cold and standoffish, people just sort of staring at each other, but when you have something that gives a little structure to a gathering, that problem can go away. Something that people can discuss.
