Burning Man Virgin

Post by breayle » Mon Jun 21, 2010 6:05 pm

Hello all, I'm a burning man virgin! I've been trying to get my sorry penniless patootey to Burning Man this year, and things keep giving me grief and it's lookin' like maybe NEXT year! But I really want to go! ARG!

So hello, I'm breayle, a burning man virgin and I wanna go. I live in SoCal and have been hearing about this party for about 10 years or so now. Last year my sister went and had a blast, I'd love to get that same chance!

A message board I joined suggested that perhaps I volunteer for a theme camp this year and they might be able to pay for my ticket there, can someone direct me to the appropriate thread for such a thing, if there is?

Thanks so much!

Breayle

Ummm yeah, you need to get your own ticket. Camps will not gift you a ticket. If you can't afford a ticket, then you can't afford the most expensive part of burningman which is all the food water and shelter to be radically self reliant for the week. start planning on going next year. get your ticket while its still cheap when they go on sale during the winter, and go knowing that you have all of your shit together enough to go and not be reliant on the kindness of others. sorry just my thoughts.

Ditto.
Don't bore your friends with all your troubles. Tell your enemies instead, for they will delight in hearing about them.

Damn these keyboards. No lazy eight symbol!

Some theme camps do give out tickets, but only to people who have been before and whom they trust. Most are too wary to give something out less than 10 weeks before the gates open to someone they know nothing about; no one wants to be ripped off by someone who takes the ticket and goes their merry way on playa never doing the work.
