Let me just point out the very big difference between ArtCars and "Mutant Vehicles". Most artcars only hold a few people and are street legal. They used to roam the playa but alas, no more. Most of us can't get licensed. Now it is dominated by basically parade, party floats: http://www.burningman.com/on_the_playa/ ... s/dmv.html which are fantastic sculptures and I'm sure lots of fun to party on but...they are not ArtCars. :-) Just want to be really clear about that as it's a big issue for many people.Kinetic V wrote:OMG, I was sitting here eating breakfast...emphasis on was. WOW, would ya look at that thing!!!
And yeah the art cars seemed to be populated by age discriminating snobs. The only art cars that have been worth a shit iIMHO was Playa Air and Captain Goddammit's awesome yacht. Many of the others have been less than pleasant experiences. Public transportation? Yeah, right.

Personally I find shallow, vain people repulsive no matter what their age. ;-)shroom wrote:What about these naked, old, unattractive people? Every video I have ever seen is full of 'hot, young attractive' people.
Seriously, what you think is attractive, I might find repulsive.

You are abusing your use of the semicolons, hyphens and brackets! Watch yourself there!EmilyD wrote:oh that's a stupid idea!
As far as your art car, you have just 2 months to design and create it. I will look for it on the playa.
Edit by me: as I'm being a smart ass here, if you enable your smilies in your profile, it will fix the problems with the images.
Off topic, but do share this sweet potato hasbrown recipe pleaseFaeTora wrote:Precooked vac-sealed meals. As for the whole nudity thing, I guess I'm pretty young (mid 20s), but I've been fairly acclimated to it mostly cause of the gym and mudruns I go to. Everyone's right, after the first few times you really don't notice it much anymore.
Doesn't mean I'll necessarily run around baring privates (i'd be too afraid without some sort of protective clothing), but if you enjoy it all the power to you

Re: Naked Old and Unattractive people on the playa?
I really want to try to drag this thread back if I can. Here is the original post!Casanova wrote:So this will be my first year attending the burn.. And my sister just told me it is a total nudist colony and everyone gets naked, and when I think of everyone only 10% (if that) of people are attractive, I assume she was just exaggerating because I have seen some really cool pictures of costumes so i know everyone is not naked. I am bringing my girlfriend and honestly I don't want to have my eyes fall out or be forced to look the other way every time someone walks by us that should be wearing clothes. I wanna keep our innocence from this kind of stuff, So if I attend Burning Man is this just out of the question?
In our Western society, the sight of breasts, (nipples specifically) bare asses, and peniis (is that the plural?) are a signal for some sort of sexual arrousal. In Europe, this type of thing is commonly on TV and in print ads. It's sensual, but not sexual. Beaches are nearly all nude there and it's not considered odd to have whole families there at a beach enjoying the time. It's just the mindset there.
It appears that Casanova is confusing sex with exposed nipples and penises. It's nothing to do with sex and I am sure that if he has never experienced any public nudity, then he feels he is sure in his own mind that he will be uncomfortable with it.
In short, sex and nudity are really not related and it may take an hour of being on the playa to discover this.
By the way, what happened to Casanova? Is he gone for good?

The sex/nudity thing is all about context. My experience is that the amount of nudity that may be seen at times on the playa is rarely overtly sexual. On the flip-side of that, some do play up that aspect of it as an expression of one's self.
I'd really like to hear from Casanova about this as well. Perhaps he was just trolling, but maybe not. I've held some views in my earlier years that were rooted in ignorance. It took a lot of growing through life experience to see just how ignorant in some cases. But I did grow and that's what makes me think twice before I totally dismiss the topic of the original post or Casanova.
I can see how such a topic could be a stumbling block when it's new to you, especially in a society that programs you day in and day out with what to think of as beautiful, acceptable, or normal. How much more difficult if one is unaccustomed to questioning their own perspectives? The fact that Casanova phrased his question as he did makes me think he's never really questioned the reasoning of his own point of view on this matter... something that I hope he might well be doing now.
But if not.. well... so it goes.

There will be less nudity this year sadly because I just learned that the Annual Black Rock City Nude Bike Ride & Pub Crawl (in which Barbie Death Camp was always a major stop) has been cancelled. We loved when our camp was overrun by 200 naked cyclists who were half drunk by noon. If you think Barbie Death Camp is pink now, you should have seen it when they came rolling in.

Casanova,
I'm suppressing my initial reaction and really trying to form a constructive reply for you because I feel you might honestly have posted this topic out of that “innocenceâ€

Wow, that's amazing. And you did it in such a short time. Maybe next you can scrape all the stuff off the car and do something more creative---like a Mondrian design!EmilyD wrote:DONE!Shambala wrote:As far as your art car, you have just 2 months to design and create it.EmilyD wrote:oh that's a stupid idea!

I heard here locally that the organizers of the "official" World Naked Bike Ride...the ride that occurs in cities protesting something or other...objected to the event at BM using the term "World Naked Bike Ride." I always assumed there was no affiliation with the "official" WNBR. But that portion of the name is, after all, printed in the WWW guide, and on the gifted cups.Dr. Pyro wrote:There will be less nudity this year sadly because I just learned that the Annual Black Rock City Nude Bike Ride & Pub Crawl (in which Barbie Death Camp was always a major stop) has been cancelled. I can't believe that that is the reason for the cancellation...I mean how hard is it to change the name to Annual Black Rock City Nude Bike Ride & Pub Crawl? Perhaps the BM organizers just got burnt out.
Can anyone else take up the leadership?

One of the best pictures from BM I have seen and actually very good description of what it is, was one picture on BM facebook page...older woman on wheelchair, naked, with wrinkles and not teens boobs anymore, covered just with dust and her tattoos...that picture was awesome, I dont have words to explain how excellent it was...when I wanted to explain my mom, what BM is, I showed her this picture...and every single time I was thinking that I wont make it on Playa this year, memory of this picture helped me...this Lady rocks...and she really made me go for it...I only wish I could meet her same as she was on picture, bow to her with my admiration and thank her...there is not old and ugly...there is just life and that is beautiful...

About the Nude Bike Ride and Pub Crawl, it (this according to an email I received from Dale, it's coordinator over the past six years) was retired because of a few reasons: he was getting burned out doing it, the people he camps with who help organize are not returning this year, and there is no central location (read: theme camp) to coordinate the event. It may return in future years. But allow me this: if anyone does organize it (historically it began at 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Man) we will be happy to be a pit stop. I mean, what's not to love about very drunk and naked women and men in the noon hour?

I will miss the WNBR. I recall a few years back, that I was so drunk I couldn't find my camp. I had to ask directions. It turns out I was standing right in front of it. Oh the alcohol soaked memories!
I wonder if the Black Rock Meat Inspectors will be back this year. They always has a great "U.S. PRIME" stamp that was put on everyone's ass.
Last year while we were at Barbie Death Camp and Wine Bistro, the water truck drove by. There had to be 50 naked people chasing it, getting their shower. I think that even startled the driver!
Well, maybe critical dicks will allow women this year!
