New and Nervous...But Excited too!

Hi everyone! My name is Sara and this will be my first year...I had some friends to camp with...Then me and my bf broke up. Now I have no ride out there or anything. I've read all the survival stuff, but I'm still feeling a little freaked out about going alone now that the rug has been pulled out from under me. Any advice?...Any people from or close to Modesto CA?

bummer about the others bailing on you.....there are lots of central valley burners, and, northern CA in general.
The rideshare boards will probably be showing up soon, watch them and see if you can arrange a ride.

Don't be nervous, you'll be with 40K + wonderful people.

Don't worry. I am firsttimer, going from abroad by myself. I joined eplaya and found great!!! people here and lot of them are so kind to help me now. I know I wont be alone on playa. Join the discussion here, enjoy, make friends and you will see it will work out!

Dougly is right about the sippy cup. Or you can get another cup with lid. You will find friends (or at least warm acquaintences) here and on the playa. When you get to playa, see if you can camp with the people who provided the ride (unless it's a bad fit.) Otherwise, talk to the neighbors before letting them drive off, you don't want to lug gear on your ownsome. Get to know your neighbors, bring some treats over, hang out, don't cling, but be friendly and open. Also, try to organize a back up ride on the way out. Stuff happens, and the playa messes with plans.

Thanks for the reassurance and advice everybody...I wouldn't have even thought of getting a cup with a lid...
I'll keep an eye out for those ride share threads.

Hey Sara, I'm from Stockton, CA. A friend and I are going for the first time this year too. Maybe we could meet up before the event, we are super anxious and excited too. I've been trying to find people around the valley, so we would actually know someone whose been previously.
