I love their idea. I'm a huge foodie.. I really am.. I don't think that every meal needs a pile of meat on it.. and dealing with huge amounts of meat on the playa sucks, trust me. It's a lot of work... And it's expensive... but excluding all meat products is a little uncool. Do they really do this, or do you just not like their meat?Token wrote:Unless you start putting meat on the menu, an evening at Trego is so much better than the gourmet salad.
Just the way it was for me.
Have fun grazing the herd.
I mean.. we could just bring a goat to the playa and slaughter it, roast it, make jewelry from it's bones and start the tanning process on it's hide. I'm sure someone would volunteer their skills.
Alternatively just keep making veggie food. I'll ask with our camp to see. Last year we had quite a contingent there for a week early I'll be sure to make the connection for this summer! I'll see what I can do. I love food... In fact, that's all I'm gifting this year! I'm feeding our entire pre-build on our Reno ranch to help get all our prep finished on time! Yeeeaahhh food!
It was better next year. -Burners

Hmmm, i'm not sure where you got the idea that FtA is a vegetarian camp.
Last year, the FtA "head office" i'll call it, hosted groups from wednesday to saturday and many meals included delicious meat options, such as almond-stuffed chicken with semolina and raisins, rice noodles with soy sauce, broccoli and beef, grilled tuna with a nectarine salsa...
You can check out last year's menus here: http://www.feedtheartists.net/archives.html
There were also 35 other theme camps who hosted artists/groups, & many of THEM might be vegetarian, all depends on who's hosting!
This year's FtA Dinners include meat at most meals... each night will be a diff theme, meat items include:
South Indian: Potato curry (dosas), Lemon Rice
Cajun Night: Sausage Jambalaya with Andouille Sausage
Mediterranean Night: Mesquite grilled marinated Lamb Chops on couscous
Metropolis International Street Food Faire: Chicken Satay (Thailand), Poisson Cru (Tahiti).
Appreciate the time you took to give us feedback & hope you pass the word on to theme camps who might like to participate!
Cheers,
squishelle

It was 2008. I remember JP was hosting the dinner. Cant remember the camp tho. It was a one night deal all in one camp.
Not bashing the effort here. The food was top notch. I just remember that at the end of the meal my body was still craving some protein, especially of the medium rare type.
After being on Playa two weeks maybe I was just worn out.
Good luck.

Feed the Artists is most definitely NOT a vegetarian camp. Otherwise i doubt they'd have a leader with the name Colonel Angus!!!!
Most have been the luck of the draw, Token. You just happened to be invited on a veggie night.
Find me on the playa.....we'll hook you up with some tasty cow!!!!!!

Our chef is not coming this year, otherwise we would host some artists. However, I know one of your group, Donna Garrison. And she thought that maybe we could bring some live acoustic or electric music over to a feed at FtA. GravyBrain is funk/jazz/fusion and good for background or spinning around.
We'll be camping near you at 7:30 and Athens. See you on-playa!

Count us in...I had been waiting (anxiously) until placement was announced, and we grabbed a group! We hosted hungry burners last year, and it really enriched our Burn...couldn't wait to do it again this year. Col. Angus + FtA are good peeps!
