First timer currently planning Burning Man 2011

Post by lisamds » Wed Jun 23, 2010 4:09 am

Hi everyone,

Right.....so..........I've wanted to do this since 1998 and have finally decided to bite the bullet and get it sorted. I'm from the UK and have read everything there is to read on this site (year after year) dreaming of one day going.

Problem is I have no idea where to start............flights are easy enough to sort out but being from a different country I'm thinkiing that everything I need will have to be purchased on arrival.

Travel to black rock is also something I need to plan.....Are there any UK burners out there who can give me a heads up on the logistics? I drive so car hire is an option as is hiring something bigger should I be able to convince my friends to play too...........

Just after some advice really if anyone can help.

Thank you......x

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

you might also want to when it gets closer to the 2011 burn, look into rideshares out of the city you fly into. I know that at least in Houston and a few places in Upstate New York you can have food deliveried or waiting for you at the grocery store for pick-up on a certain day which might make it easier on you. Though it will take a little more prep time.

Hope to see you in 2011. That was my plans too but it seems this is my year, so I have a ticket and can't wait to step foot on the playa.

I was going to go san francisco for a few days as i've always wanted to go (hey im going all the way to the US i might aswell!) then get a greyhound bus to Reno. or just fly to Reno not sure yet.

Travelling to BRC from Reno is the tricky bit, hoping to find a rideshare before i go, if not will try to find one in Reno.

Intend to buy most of my supplies (and a bike) in Reno, I have a friend living there so if she's around it will be a life saver.

I'm also looking out for other people travelling from the UK to see if we can share the load of carrying stuff we can't buy in Reno.

And yes crazily excited but a little nervous!
