Release Forms?

I hate to bring CYA bullshit to the playa, but have not seen any indication whether camps offering physically risky activities utilize some kind of RELEASE FORMS from liability. I have access to the form we would use, but is it necessary, prudent or ridiculous?

I would imagine that the "form" is reading the back of yer ticket...but i am not sure.

I'm no lawyer, but the back of the ticket states:

The ticket purchaser or holder (you) voluntarily assumes all risk of property loss or damage, personal or bodily injury, serious injury or death, which may occur by attending Burning man 2010.

That pretty much covers it, no?

My plan has always been to "recycle" anyone injured in our camp into food and/or camp decorations.

Worst case, dump them deep playa and let the hippies feed on them.

Even if you did, good luck with it being any kind of legal document..... Peeps don't even carry ID, or give real names...... Would you use a notary?? Seems overkill, unless you're behaving like Risky.......

The back of the ticket covers the issuer of the ticket, i.e. the BMORG, not any individual artist or theme camp.

You may wish to consider personal insurance that covers travel, medical, etc.

I've seen photographers doing release forms on Playa.

Discovery required release forms when they were out there.

A signature is a signature, ID or not.

Btw, ID to make sure folks are 18 might not be a bad thing either.

Better to have the form than not.
