If the planning's this much fun...

Post by ohCarie » Thu Jun 24, 2010 11:01 pm

I think my mind is going to explode from all the things that are running through it, but very excited and totally ready. Knew I had to be there after hearing about it last year from a friend who went in 08. (Had only heard vague references to BM before, but didn't really get any first-hand stories.) We had exactly one year to plan--and we needed it! We camp often, but can only imagine what we are in for on the Playa. Been scouring thrift stores, dreaming up crafts, and reading reading reading. I swear, if the burn is half as fun as getting ready is, I will be thrilled. See ya all at home! :D

Be sure to read all the First-timer's guide and all that. And I agree... the planning is half the fun to me.

Nice hat.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

OhCarie, just wait until you get inside Black Rock City and the realization hits you---"holy shit, I'm really here"! Rememer that we are penned into 7 square miles, so you can head out to the deep playa and not see anyone for a mile in each direction. The incredible feeling of immortality will come over you and you will really understand what the phrase "WELCOME HOME" means.

For now, I can just welcome you here, but soon enough........

Thanks leChat, the hat just feels right. Not sure if it would work on you, though, with your darker skin tone.

Ha! Preparing for the first year is nothing.

Preparing for the second you as you drive home is the BIG deal.

Just you wait and see.

I have to be careful not to discuss it too much. Even the virgins I'm dragging out get a little sick of it. Just wait. You and they will soon get it. And why the planning is so important. No second chances. No wandering off to Wallyworld if you didn't bring something. Bring it or you don't have it. Glad you're preparing. There is no such thing as being too prepared. They said that about me, and I didn't want for much. It worked.
