I've never owned a car since being in the west for over 20 some odd years. I have always had issues about humans use of petroleum and have been conscious never to use it or use it the least possible.
When I drive it's always only for work and these days I drive a Prius.
I have always used public transportation or rode a bike.

I have always rolled that way because I am from New York and being the city boy that I am, have never seen the need to do otherwise.

So you folk here in the "BP" thread thinks that BP is really trying to stop the flood of oil in the gulf.

They are involved with Halliburton which is involved with "Burn Pit " and "Burn Pit Litigation"

Do you actually think that any of you guys that are cleaning up the shit in the gulf thinks BP gives 2 flying FUCKS about you?

Yeah but why is it people continuously let these "idiots" ( my opinion of them) let them fuck them over when it is obvious?

Also been thinking a lot about what you said about "using just as much plastic, electricity, and natural gas as the rest of America" and I dont see this as a problem or at least the the initial basis of the problem.

I see the corporates that have the resources, access to many resources and control of most all resources to be at issue and the problem.

The way I see it, the mass majority are not in control over what it is they buy and how it is used.

Those that have the huge finances and that are in control over the resources are.

Say for example, Henry Ford, as I have mentioned before, foresaw this oil issue. So did Porsche and Diesel.

They all saw this coming and tried to do something about it, but there is a history of individuals that goes way back centuries and are of dynasties, that do not and can not see the right way of doing things for the betterment of all.

Call it greed if you like.

My opinion is, and I am drawing from the facts I have found, that these folks are incapable of thinking in an intelligent or logical manner.

Yet, they are the ones that are in control over this world.

There never really was a reason to have vehicles run on petroleum.

Those that are in control of these resources did many things to have many to believe this to be so. But this was never the case.

You can make cars run efficiently and effectively off air.

This would solve an estimated 85% of the worlds problems and these that force the petroleum on everyone know this. Their workers and consumers dont because they have been told to believe this to be true.

There is no "addiction to oil". This is a HUGE HUGE HUGE LIE.

It's gotten to a point that it's not even about the lie nor money anymore and the average folk will never know this.

It is the way it is.

Oh and hey, this is just my opinion based on the facts I have posted over the years on eplaya to which those that have argued with me about this over the years, have yet to prove wrong.

We/I shall not mention any names unless they choose to challenge what I say.

There is some question if crude oil can evaporate enough to cause toxic rain. Apparently, the dispersant Corexit will evaporate and re condense with rain. It's very toxic and , presumably causes a lot of damage. The lighter fractions of crude are toxic too. If this all rains down, there is going to be a lot more death.

Earlier in this thread I posted about the effects of Corexit.
Just wanna repeat what "I THINK" will happen in the next few months or so.
Around the same time the plates of the ocean floor collapses and creates a huge tidal wave, there will be tons of people in the areas effected that will get extremely sick with various diseases. You should see people around the gulf coast and all up along the east coast fall ill, and this may be not excluding folks in Cuba.

But this is just my opinion.

In 1971, two tankers crashed near the Golden Gate bridge, spilling 840,000 gallons of oil into the waters near San Francisco. After seeing the environmental destruction wreaked on the San Francisco bay, John Francis "really wanted to do something," he told PRI's The Takeaway. "I wanted to get out and start walking." Francis vowed to stop riding in motorized vehicles, a prohibition that lasted for some 22 years.

Walking around the earth, Francis soon tired of the endless arguments he was pulled into. People accused him of trying to make them feel bad for riding in cars. Francis explained, "In my little community people started arguing with me about what one person could do." So Francis quit talking for the next 17 years.

The experience of not talking taught Francis the value of listening to other people. He founded a nonprofit called Planetwalker, was briefly employed by the Coast Guard and helped write oil spill legislation, was named a goodwill ambassador to the United Nations. He earned a PHD and taught classes without saying a word.

By staying silent and not riding in motorized vehicles, Francis also realized a more expansive definition of "the environment." He said in a talk to the TED conference, "environment changed from being about trees and species to how we treat each other."

Now that he's talking again, Francis is using his voice to try to raise environmental consciousness. "We have to do something now," he said at the TED conference. "We have to change now."
