I too love toast. It's so nice to find like minded people here on eplaya as well as Burning Man. I am not sure how many of "us" will be there, but at least there will be a few of us. Do you know if there will be some metal forks there at your camp, just in case the toast gets stuck in the toaster? I like to live dangerously!

Thanks so much for your great responses.... I can't believe how much
fun we can have with a piece of bread. Hope to see you on the playa.

Toast is one of nature's perfect foods! I carry a toaster onboard my mutant vehicle, although it gets used mostly for Pop Tarts - an excellent playa food that requires no refrigeration and comes in a dust-proof package!
Will you have any vintage toasters to admire? Maybe an old side-opening unit with a fabric-wrapped power cord like I used as a kid?

1--Ever been to a Negativland show? They ended them by putting toast into a toaster until it caught on fire. I got to see them once...
2--The woman who started After Dark (she was not the only founder, so no runnign that through an argument) was my sister's best friend in jr. high and high school.
3--My mother makes lemon curd, Emily.

TOOOOOOOOOOOAST!!!!!!!!!
It's a good thing! I love toast, too!
But, alas, i have a wheat/yeast intolerance now. Most gluten-free breads are like hockey pucks when you toast them.
Since then I've turned to the plethora of gluten-free frozen waffles on the market (try Van's). Since it's hard to spread butter, etc. on the square-pocked waffles, I've gone to making my own fruit compote with fruit from the farmer's market. Berries are cheaper the more you buy there.
Any chance there will be gluten-free toast at your shindig?
