from my sailing background I have too much experience with this matter...

the "Double Doodie" and 'Wag bags' have a powder type of filler not unlike a diaper gel, that react with fluids to create a gel like substance. they come with a outer ziplock bag that can legally be disposed in any trash can.... just like a diaper.

if you only did #1 in there, it would be no smell, and they last a few days. if you do #2, you would need a sealed bucket for them.

with either the seat on the 5 gal bucket, or the lugable loo, you need an air tight lid, if you do #2 in there...

a marine porta potties has 2 sections, where you dump the holding tank into a toilet. no gel. if you were allowed to dump it in a john, that would be way to go... but it can be a messy affai, and always nasty..

personally, I'd just clean the john best I could, and make it quick.

We didn't need a sealed anything to dispose of the WAG bags even with #2--the bags were in a regular, unsealed trash bag, INSIDE our camper--on a HOT weekend, and there was no odor at all.

For BRC, where it's even hotter, I've picked up some Opsak bags, which are made to seal in odors.

I was SO impressed with how well maintained the PortaPotties were. Always clean, always stocked with toilet paper.

I enjoyed the art that got installed in some, I had fun with my fellow Burners during the rare waits.

I kept a pee bottle in my tent for the 3AM call, and emptied it every morning.

If you read back in the thread, JanetPlanet, you'll see that some of us don't have the option of using the porta potties for poo. Unfortunately, our portals won't cooperate. So, we need a different alternative. If you can use the loo for poo, more power to ya.
