From Madrid, Spain all the way to BM.. 1st time, stoked !

Post by antonioY » Tue Jul 06, 2010 11:07 pm

So, once upon a time I met this guy in Paris while we were both studying abroad. Cool looking dude, always saying stuff like 'stoked' or 'rad'. I knew in that second I'd met a kindred spirit when I saw him drinking beer at the rooftop of our dorm with three girls. "Hey, I like beer and girls too, let's be friends" - I said.

Then he kept showing me pictures of the "mondo spider" - a huge mechanical spider he helped build with friends - and talking about this thing called "burning man". It took me a couple of years to understand it (you guys know how hard/impossible it is to understand it without going first, right?) so for the first time ever I'm going this year!!

And I AM stoked and it WILL be rad!!!

Flying from Madrid - NYC - Reno and then probably hitchhiking to BRC. Enjoying planning this stuff out as crazy as it sounds, and I've already met people here that are going as well (who woulda thunk?). Can't wait to meet you all. Yes, all 40k+.

Cheerio !

Antonio

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

hey antonio and welcome. the spider is way fucking cool!!!!! just a thought you might want to try and find a rideshare from reno you need to bring a ton of stuff so that you can be radically self-reliant and not be in need of help during the week. you need a tent lots of water, food for the week and shade for you to not be directly in the 110+ degree sun. it is really hard to hitchhike to bm. i know that there are a lot of other international burners on eplaya and maybe you could team up with some of them. you will have a much better time if you are fully prepared and don't have to worry about your own survival. read the guide on burningman.com and get ready for a great amazing and at times intense hard to deal with experience.

Antonio is the raddest dude ever. You WANT to know this man, and bath in his aura... I assure you.

Watch for us rocking white digs.

Thanks bro, you're too nice.

curiousgnate, thanks for the advice. I might have already got a ride from someone here in Madrid. This shaves 90% off my logistic problems!

Can't wait !

Would... if I was Spanish :)

Still, any reason to celebrate is good enough.

Token that's so weird, how did you find a picture of me? Damn the internets, nothing is private anymore.

Hey Antonio, I am so stoked that you are coming! Pop on by the Livers End for a visit. We have beer, and it attracts women.

hey This Woman, sure. As soon as you tell me what/where is Livers End I'm there.

Worried about buying stuff that I won't bring back afterwards but hate to trash. The bike I know I can donate, and I will, but what about the cooler for instance? Is there anywhere in BRC or Reno I can leave this kinda of stuff to good use?

The Livers End is a bar. You'll find us on playa info or just wandering around.

The cooler, food/water/booze/cigarettes can all be donated to the DPW on your way out. They are the guys that build and take down the city, and you will see places to drop stuff as you leave the venue. They will love it. They'll be camping out there as long as it takes to spotlessly clean the playa - usually early October.

Hey Antonio,
this is Ben, your new buddy in Madrid. Also going to BM, but it is my 2nd time! Will be staying at NaughtyBus camp, with my FL crew. =)

Yes, celebrating the Spain victory has been insane.

I am setting up the 2010 BM World Cup, just got approved. It will be 3v3 soccer, with glowing ball & uniforms, and a pitch illuminated with EL wire. And of course a shrine dedicated to the Spain WIN, with flags, decorations, Paul the octopus...and maybe even a referee we can later burn. lol

If anyone wants to contribute let me know. I am looking for DJs, chearleaders, people who can oversee the games....and of course, participants! I am disksko at hotmail com

Much love!
Ben.
First timer, visiting from Spain!!!!! =)
