What kind of vehicle(s) do you put it in?

Going back to bio: history tells us that Rudoulf Diesel ran the first diesel engine on straight peanut oil
I run it in my old diesel MBZ's and Dodge cummins.

IIRC, the first diesel engine was designed to run on coal dust.........oil came later.
coal dust? not coal oil? I've never heard of that being used other than on electric generator plants. The pressure would have to be tremendous! What kind of pump would do that?
again, IIRC, no pump....it was metered with a auger into the intake stream as the engine was spun up. Very fine coal dust acts similar to a liquid, and, can "atomize" in the air.
But, I'm no engineer, I'm just working from memory here (and, I grew up in the 70's....).

I know, you can run a diesel engine, just by metering propane into the intake, even without the presence of diesel fuel.

So if I understand correctly, there was no injector? The coal dust was simply sucked into the cylinder through the intake?

The bus service in town here runs CNG. I always perceived that to be injected rather than metered into the intake manifold.

You can run any engine off starting fluid in the intake without the presence of fuel but that doesn't mean it is a good thing.

Sorry for getting so far off thread,,,, although, coal is smelly,,,,,,

yeah, that's my understanding.......not sure it was Rudolph Diesel on that original design............

I don't know how CNG is metered into converted engines........I just know, the propane thing works.

and, here now...........you just quit that thread drifting nonsense, right this instant!!!!

or, you will be punished..............

Lubricity is somewhere in Southern Silicon Valley IIRC.

Striction causes friction requiring increased lubricity to alleviate the increased stress and pressure. On the other hand, lubricity enhances the potential for increased striction without the worry of friction beyond acceptable limits.

With enough lubricity, isn't stiction avoided?

*Note: firefox recognized lubricity and not stiction

Maybe stricture is the noun you seek. Striction is generally a condition. Stricture is the specific area causing the condition.

Edit: I just put my reading glasses on and realized the word is "STICTION" without the 'R'. Shit,,,,, that's like getting stuck,,,, like a sticking valve or a piston not up and downing like it should. Also a condition caused by inhibited lubricity. But the condition caused by stiction is,,,,,,,, drum roll please,,,,,,, STUCK!

Stiction refers to resistance on a lubricated surface, like a hydraulic shaft or a shock absorber or damper.

There seems to be more and more tobacco fields growing over around here. I think they started out as hemp fields.
