Wikipedia sez:
Popular in Argentina, it is often taken as a national beverage. The production in this country is around 20 million litres, 35% sold in Buenos Aires province and Federal District and 30% in Córdoba province (with a population of 3 million people)[1][2].

Although originally fernet was mainly served with water or soda, now (since late eighties) the most common preparation is with Coca-Cola: A tall glass with several ice cubes is filled about 1/10 full with Fernet and then Coke is slowly added.

Fernet has been popular for the past couple of decades in the Czech Republic, where it is served as a shot, or over ice with tonic water, a mixture affectionately called "Bavorské Pivo" (Bavarian Beer) or "Bavorák."

The drink has been popular in San Francisco since before Prohibition; its recent surge in popularity is the subject of a 2005 SF Weekly article,[3] and as of 2008, San Francisco accounted for 25% of US consumption.[4] Local bars often serve Fernet as a shot followed by a ginger ale chaser.[3]
It's going to be alright.

Oh....and I love this description of the experience...fits with Fire Moose
The easiest way to explain the taste is to imagine Jägermeister without the sugar. You shoot it, immediately getting a strong hit of mouthwash - drying the mouth out, stinging the tongue. Its kind of like getting hit in the nose. Your brain hurts, your eyes sting and water, you cough a bit. Then, as soon as it begins a warm wave of relief washes over and you are left baptized in Italian herbals and golf ball eyed awake.
It's going to be alright.

Fernet-Branca is a dark, syrupy alcoholic drink similar to an amaro, with a flavour that's best described as being a cross between medicine, crushed plants and bitter mud. The exact recipe of Fernet-Branca is a secret but the producers, Fratelli Branca Distillerie, do say that it contains 27 different herbs and spices taken from four continents. Among the known ingredients are aloe, gentian root, rhubarb, gum myrrh, red cinchona bark, galanga and zedoary. The rumoured ingredients include saffron.

I could kidnap Sputnik on the way past his place on my way to the playa but we'll have to start planning now how to get him in the gate without a ticket.

~Simon, I think you are who you are no matter where you go, it's the natives that change, not you~

maybe i can put him under my coat? lol. Noone wants under there.

Honestly though i am trying to figure out if there is something i can do to make it possible for him. But right now i am also having to figure out what I will do since my crew got a camp offer that they are excited about. but I am not. I like the idea of us just camping together. So i might be at the store for many more things soon and be camping on my own. oh well. i may only get to do this once. got to make it count.

No, not at all. As long as you'll be OK on your own. You're very likely to have lots of friends to spend time with anyway. Camp is just a nice place to have some down time. When I went in 2007 we camped on our own. Just two of us. We made friends with the neighbors and it was very nice.
It's going to be alright.
