What's in your poi (or other fire toy) kit?

Post by LittleJack » Thu Jul 15, 2010 9:47 am

I'm a fairly new poi spinner, and I'm putting my kit together. Below is what I'm planning to put in my kit, and I'd love to know what's in yours!

I'll have a tricycle on the Playa with a big basket behind the seat, so hauling this thing around won't be a problem - I'm thinking about one of those rubbermade tubs with the top that snaps on.

* Fire toys (Poi, Devil Sticks)
* Fuel - white gas in it's original container
* Dipping bucket
* Spin-off bucket
* Funnel
* A square yard of Duvetyn
* 2 small towels for fuel spills
* Fire Extinguisher - 5ABC
* Small crescent wrench to tighten or change poi heads
* First aid kit, with burn ointment
* Glow sticks to put in dipping bucket
* An extra flashlight

Fiery regards,
-Little Jack

I've found that duffel bags work great. although my staff cant fit into a kit...

What's the funnel for? no need to pour contaminated fuel back into original can.

2 small towels for fuel spills? you won't be able to soak up fuel from the playa...

Switch crescent wrench with a multi tool. keep that in yer back pack.

Good call with the glow sticks.

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but what do you do with the excess fuel from your dip bucket?

Good call with the multi-tool instead of the crescent wrench.

Thanks,

Well MY dip bucket is a gallon paint can so i put the lid on it :)

quick tip: ask ACE hardware for a paint key, then tie the paint key to the paint can's handle. Easy open now.

2nd quick tip: NEVER use yer car key to open a paint can at BM.

I just picked up the biggest kit that Bear Claw makes, and added a travel bag and the new dip and drain system, and called it a day. :)

I can see how a couple of hand tools for repairs, and the first aid stuff could come in handy, though, I'll have to add that. I'll just make sure whoever I'm spinning with has a fire extinguisher.
