One Item for BM a Day (2010-2012)
I came home from work, and my door mat was missing. I looked on the patio, and the mailman had used it to cover up a small package.
Yippee yippee yipee! don't you just love getting burning man stuff?!
C.f.M. is one hell of a whimsical artist. I knew she would come up with something fun and happy. I wanted to give myself a present, and I asked for an animal sort of hat... nothing more specific than that, something she found, or made, or had lying around. I wanted a "wild thangs night" hat to wear when visiting the Booby Bar. I think I just wanted something that would make me smile, and she did a fantastic job. I'll post a photo when I'm in a more goofy mood. If anybody else wants to benefit from her imagination and skill, and help a dedicated and worthy eplayan... pm her.

...and you're replacing the insulation to keep the dust out? Oh EmilyD, you crack me up!EmilyD wrote:Today is UGH! I'm trying to replace the worn out insulation around our popup trailer. I'm here typing instead of out there scraping the old stuff off. Okay back to work, bleah!
By the way, where is your other half. Tell him to get his ass out there and do some scraping!

NOOOO I'm replacing it because it's disintegrated. I don't expect to keep dust out (that would be dumb and obsessive) but I'm certainly not going to make it easier for it to get in, that would be dumber. Mr. D is busy earning a living for all the shit I keep buying to make us comfy at Burning Man. Don't worry I have plans for him this weekend. More trailer repairs (roof-holding bunjees are about to snap and need replacing). ;-)

What other people think about you is none of your business.
LOVE those boots!
I bought cloth to make a furry hat. Today my friend & I are setting up our tents and shade in the yard for a test run. Also seeing how many tent stakes my lovely hubby will need to make for us. (he has rebar at work, yay!)

ALSO Today: tent sealer...just in case it happens to rain...my tent is in need.
ALSO ALSO Today: A new cooler...the old one was cracked and destroyed

Today I realized that due to financial cut backs from my father passing soon (2-3 weeks) I have to go with the bare minimum to BM. It's my first year, and I think I really need something to look forward to right now, so I kinda stubbornly refuse to give up Burning Man. I've dealt with way too much in the past few months. Luckily, I have other camp mates who are helping out where they can.
We ordered and received tons of cheap blinkies, lights, glow for bikes, bodies and camp. Lengths of el-wire to wrap around bike from bewild that seem to work really well.
That's it this week. Here's hoping we can still go.

ADDDorAble Ellorrum!!! Did you make that?
I'll be bringing some of the cool hats my friend Joy has made me over the years. I'm definitely going to wear my singing Barbie hat to Barbie Death Camp!
Here are her hats if anyone's interested:

i created 4 separate lists to stay organized
1: stuff that i have already, AND is already packed!
2: stuff that i have already, but still needs to be packed
3: stuff that i still need to procure
4: prices of said stuff
(doubles as a budgeting plan
i have also been making a very valiant effort to consume the most water i possibly can. its like exercise...

good work. re: my pink hat. I did not make it, C.f.M. did. I needed a dose of her style. I'm a reluctant costume wearer, but I can always wear a fun hat. I love the work of the joy hat club.kman wrote:Another accomplishment for today's list:
This evening, I re-wired my Sony boombox to run off straight 12v DC instead of AC or D batteries. So now it can pull off the big battery (recharged via solar) like everything else does, and no need to waste juice on inverter inefficiency.

Cleaned my trailer and restocked it with new sheets, pillows, towels. Took my MV out for a spin to see if there are any mechanical problems before I start repainting it. Took the gennies in for servicing. Ordered the acrylic for the art project I'm doing. How many days left? Yikes!

We found my daughter a pair of Playa boots today at a garage sale, and also nabbed a sort of beige web ammo belt for my sweetie. I cut all of the pockets off of a pair of stone-colored overall shorts that I decided wouldn't work with the porta-potties, made straps for them, and popped them onto the web belt. Voila! Utility belt with great big pockets that have Velcro closures. Wheee!

It's so exciting to hear what everyone's doing. Great tutu but whoa lots of tulle!!! That is a FABuloUS hat C.f.M.! A really smart solution/invention for the coverall pockets Bling. I finally finished my platform workboots, photos to come. Starting on our electric coats today. The only way I could get the mister's attention was to make a pact that we both turn off our computers all day.

I like the belt with big pockets idea. I've used a shooters belt with big big pockets all around. it's like having jacket pockets without a jacket. this shows the back pocket and the sides. I've used it with a platypus bottle in the back with a drinking hose, but contents didn't stay very cool. a liter size nalgene fits in either pocket. I velcroed the pockets, and sewed patches and other ornaments on it.
