GPS waypoints for art and porta-potties

Post by geospyder » Sat Jul 17, 2010 10:15 pm

Last year there was a group that created waypoint files for GPS units. The file contained waypoints for all the art and banks of potra-potties. Does anyone know who this group was? If so, do you know if they are doing it again this year?
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Got my answer!

Token posted the following on another thread in answer to someone else's question.

"The golden spike ceremony usually happens in early August. This is the spot they build the man and the whole city is built from that reference point.

Until that happens, no one knows.

The data is usually released shortly after.

William Keller has published Garmin maps the last few years. Check here mid August:

Not exactly art and potties but its a start:
William Keller has published the Garmin map for 2010.

http://www.wkeller.net/BRC-GPS/

Based on the data, The Man looks to be at:

40.78639, -119.20650

Center Camp at:

40.78164, -119.21277

Have fun!

The Man coordinates agree with what I've been told by Burning Man Earth.
They say they'll release the art waypoints Real Soon Now, at http://earth.burningman.com/api/0.1/2010/art/

I've been trying to ask around for portapotties, but I can't seem to figure out who's in charge of placing them
