First timer from Rochester NY- going solo
First timer from Rochester NY- going solo
cant wait!!!
Been reading up, thinking I may rent a 16'box truck from nearby the burn as I will be flying in and buying supplies nearby.
Currently trying to decide on a camp- will most likely try and get into Hushville if I can.
Any good suggestions on best places to volunteer? Id like to greet, but from my understanding they want people who are already familiar and have experience.
Im really liking the idea of going solo and meeting people up at the burn, I know how it can be when youve got a bunch of people with different agendas.
Anyways... I wanted to introduce myself

my advice, welcome by the way, is to rent the truck asap. you might have a hard time. also you can volunteer at greeters any time you want! just show up and volunteer. it is always one of my favorite things that i do while on playa. and awwwww you need the quiet, get ready for the noise, no where is quiet. hushville is reasonable but bring earplugs, and if you are too late for hushville, well bring earplugs.

Rochster. My family is from Syracuse (well and surrounding subs like Marcellus and bville, etc.). As cold as NY gets in the winter is how hot BM will be. I lived up in Upstate for a few years and loved the summer weather. But New Yorkers complained about how hot it was even when it was in the 80's. That I think will make you the most uncomfortable. Prepare for the heat.
Hope to see you on the playa! And Welcome.

Yum Yumms...
Hate to tell ya this but the moving trucks ie...circa today is July 19th...have probably all been rented within a 300 mile radius of Reno Nv
You better get that thing rented...or have enough time to come up with PlanB.
And welcome to Eplaya...not the same thing as the PLAYA!
OH! And dont tell them its for Burningman ! They will jack up the price and steal your deposit when you get back saying it isnt clean ENOUGH!

Hushville preregistration will give you access to the secret handshake and puts you on the list. My camp is one of the interior street anchors. On Arrival Night, we stay up all night shooing away RVs and other non-registered campers. Most are cool when we show them the map and the Official Clipboard of Inclusion, but now and then we get whiners who don't understand why we won't "share". You can preregister with Hushville and camp elsewhere, we won't come looking for you. All we offer is an address, good neighbors, a cocktail party, and the promise that you won't have a generator next to your tent. Not unless those damn Barbies put theirs next to us.... damn Barbies.
