Wayward Canadian seeks camp!

Post by caveatlector » Mon Jul 19, 2010 8:55 pm

Hello! My plans have finally firmed up to get to my very first burn and while I originally asked a few months ago, it seems like it might be time to ask again if there are people who are looking to include a nice and pretty laid back Canadian in their camp.

There are clearly quite a few options out there, but hopefully there's a camp that will be willing hosts to a virgin who's willing to both pay and help out to make his adopted camp work.

Also, if a blind "help!" here isn't how I should find a camp: How can one find the camps that still have space?

There are at least two threads started by camps looking for members in this sub-forum that were looking in the past week or so. There is also a list of all the camps that applied for placement at burning man this year (at least I think that that's the list's origen) That site is linked to burningman.com or just go to the upper left of the webpage and click the "burning man" letters.
Anyway, once you find the list, scroll through, see what appeals narrow that list to 4 to 6 camps, contact the contact and ask. I don't know maybe you want to have more than 6 camps; it's sort of this huge block to me for asking things from strangers, so I was thinking in limited the huge overwhelming number. HOwever, you want more than a first choice. A lot of camps are closed by now. Work out a letter that explains what you're looking for, what you find appealing about that camp and what you bring.

We still have a few openings in our camp. You will need to arrange your own transportation to the playa and bring your own water, food & tent. We are sharing materials to build the theme camp so if you can't bring much more it would be alright chip in some money. Half the camp is newbies so having one more would be just fine.

Check us out here: http://sites.google.com/site/metroburn42/
and we can chat some more if it sounds like a match.
