I'm arriving Thurs eve...

Post by moonrise » Wed Jul 21, 2010 5:29 pm

I'm NOT a frat boy....I'm am artist.....but I'm having difficulty finding the info about when the gate stays open until. Does anyone know in case I have a situation that delays my Thurs eve arrival? I was thinking, maybe I could show up with some In n Out burgers or salty foods...I saw somewhere on this ginormous (awesome) website everyone likes that sorta thing my mid/late week!

Might be difficult to keep In-&-Out Burgers at a safe temperature (unless you put them on ice, bleah). If you get them from Reno it's a 2+ hour drive and then maybe at least another before you're within gifting range of people. However, you could keep fresh hamburger meat super cold if you want to cook from scratch and bring the equipment. Far simpler--and as you've probably noted in the thread, are other things that run out: fresh fruit, fresh bread, soda & drink mixers. People always run out of cigarettes, too. I have mixed feelings about gifting cigarettes but it's probably a really fast route to friendship. :)

The gate stays open all week but is usually closed after 6pm on Burn Night of the event (Saturday).

Post by moonrise » Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:19 pm

heheheh....I smoke and I know where to get cigs cheeeeeep......they are fake looking copy cats of the red ones (M********) only $32.00 a carton at the Gold Ranch indian drive up window in Verdi....nevada sells cigs dirt cheap...also, why hasn't anyone mentioned Winco...the food and cash only (no credit cards! yes atm's) AND 24/7 open!!!! is awesome there...cheeeeper...there's also a semi decent mal mart next door and a homeless depot across the street and some other stores like that, fast food blah blah (I gave a huge watermelon to a big truck of burners there about 5 years ago..I just did it without knowing about gifting..lmao)....the winco and etc big box stores are at the Hawthorne exit hub, hwy 395 mentioned on bman website near one of the water places...i think it was the good spring water place....I can buy a bunch of fresh bread....I like white but I can get both...also soda and I saw salty stuff is healthy for people by mid/late week...crackers n chips? They don't chill the watermelons soooo....hmmmm...maybe skip that? I'm on a budget but I can handle a cart of stuff if from winco.....and the cheeeep cigs...maybe just one carton?

Smoking in class

Post by moonrise » Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:46 am

I'm tryin' not to be a Sarklepony here...lmao...(urban dictionary description had that burner term listed..funny as hell!) BUT, when I was a Maitre'd I would serve cigarrettes this way; In a Tuxedo, of course (one of my outfits for 2010) on a silver tray (it can be a thrifty silver plated tray for bman) on a paper doillie inscribed with silver ink in flowing script "Metropolis, Burningman 2010" I'd be wearing white gloves also, I would pre-light every other cig, so they don't all lit up at once (pull 'em out and turn each one around alternately and light as if incense) and serve them up with a flair...."Would you like a cigarrette Sir/Ms? I can keep a straight face the whole damned time too! Even rich f**ks loved that one! (some people would actually ask if I put my lips on 'em to light, No Sir/Ms they light as if incense...) For the burn I can use a larger tray and do this with several packs at once and then re-light and repeat...people would be welcome to take a lit cigarette one at a time..not the whole pack! Hm, I wonder is this probably best at night or day? I think non-windy and night lasers do light up smoke very well....a tray of cigs burnin' throws some noticeable smoke! (btw, sorry if someone falls off the tobacco wagon...Frank Sinatra would never/rarely inhale...I can add that to my verbal offer/convo..."Mr Sinatra rarely inhaled")

It's a pastime thing Sinatra simply loved! Now only major vips get this, in their penthouse suites....... even at The Luxor...but as far as I know, smoking is still allowed outdoors in Nevada ....this is actually very easy for me to do....and I miss it....I like anything that burns!

If you're coming in Thursday evening your first stop (especially if you have In & Out Burgers, Animal Style) should be the Meet & Greet at Barbie Death Camp.

moonrise, make sure to keep enough money for your ticket, just in case Playa Foot is, oh . . . a notorious liar.

It's very easy to be enchanted by the dusty Playa under your bare foot. Playa is like . . . a snowmobile racing across the tundra . . . and then suddenly it flips over, pinning you underneath.

At night, the ice weasels come.

Wow! I was just ripping off a Matt Groening quote (about the definition of love, actually). Didn't connect you with the thread about being semi-fragile or snowmobile injuries. What a mad coincidence . . .

(For the record, I have never been tackled or otherwise set upon suddenly by people at the burn. I don't blame you for asking or being concerned though).

Yea, for real....snowmobile is what did the damage.
(and wear n tear after riding for 20 years..... fast!...brag brag brag...my fastest speed was 115 mph.... at that speed the things would sound like space ships..it's top speed was 125 mph on the snow covered surface of a frozen lake ...sorta like an ice playa and we'd do BIG camp fires of course! I miss that particular snow machine, a fuel injected mini Ferrari! Almost needed a parachute!)

I have flipped many...once, I didn't let go of handle bars fast enough and I got pulled out and snapped back, like one of those silly push button string clown toys, that get's snapped back when you let it's strings get tight again (ligaments in my case) I was sore for a week...ouch

BTW, I was pull starting a stalled one when it blew out many discs and they also discovered bone fractures et cetera. I can't be called a lousy rider!

I can still take an eticket put put ride now n then but that snowsports career is long over... :(

Savannah, after reading your post I was perplexed and then realized..."oh, she must be a magical sorta person" a physchic...she knew! hehehe...

Back on track...I think I may be slowly stretching my trip to arrive earlier...like weds during the DAYTIME! yeah!....many people when PM'd have been VERY helpful....so hm? Do I re-post a new topic arriving WEDS need advice bla bla...it seems many camps think it'll be too difficult for me to drive, park and pitch (in or a tent or whatever) if I arrive too too late...access will be blocked by then. I don't need to be in front row, just a decent spot for health reasons.

I do make a good security guard, will carry a kewl cane and can gently prod away bonked people....I fall down due to right leg going totally numb/pain if I walk/bike too much...it's just a fact. So I'll be limited a lil bit.....I also can wash dishes with a smile....managed restaurants all my life...and I plan to carry edible multi colored sparkling fire dust with me (no joke) an ancient secret reicpe handed down to my family from Etruscans to Romans to my Italian side of the fam......it's awesome stuff...for camp fires and the occaisional flaming rum shot....I can gift some here n there and easily teach how it is used....I'm not boring....the fire can be gentle (a few inches) or 5 to 15 foot high curtains and big explosions and mushroom clouds of sparkling multi colored flames. I was a table side flambe expert for many many years...it can also be blown like a kiss into a camp fire here n there and then....mysteriously disappear.....and there's more bit it's a surprise.
Oh, and I was directed towards the BRC fire dept already...I'll get there!

I'm gonna try to get my camp spot issue resolved with help on eplaya, normally I would not FRET but I am fragile and I'd like to be able to return in future years...It helps to know some hints, coming from my injured/semi fragile point of view...I cannot afford a ton of stuff (golf cart with a disibilty sticker, nope) and not sure how much dishwashing I could do....a fair amount....especially during the hot daytime say after lunch...dishwashing does not scare me..lmao. Maybe I can post "lunch time dishawasher in need of a medium sized camp, arriving weds bla bla" it might crash my in box????

gracias! amigos....and Savannah the physchic!

Sure, I'd love a hula Barbie. And feel free to take whatever limbs are off of the broken and trashed Barbies as well. Rather you have them than they turn into MOOP.

winco & black raspberry ice cream info my dear eplaya pal....get this, even betta...it is from TILLAMOOK oregon dairy!!!! good quality good prices....the other flavors sorta suck...huckleberry is okay...the cherry is too sweet...they have all the "hillbilly berry flavas down...hehehe....there are only two wincos in reno one waaaaay south of airport in Drano (Reno)...off of 395 south, a wal mart next door to both btw! it is near where the old school reno casino owners like to live...and the former mayor, who's wife was in playboy...she is soooo nice....not a snobbish bunny....and man did she draw a LOT of biz to the joint we worked in, The Atalntis..hi Leslie! Muah! Atlantis Steak house...no gaming noise!...a totally insane steak house with black lighted decor under the sea...and an octopus that spews dry ice fog over a night club...a fantasy under the sea...it's upstairs...it is magical! The front doors, a mermaid cost 500k! from india! anyway, i am rambling but it'll be WORTH the ride!

I LOVE good food...hehehe....if you ever go,,,have the seafood panroast and split it...OMG...also if they still do table side.... have the wilted spinach salad....not sure if they still do flambes though...we had a cart fill with propane over night and it almost killed me, it exploded when i lit the pan i was heating up! the doors flew across the room and almost killed the machine gun dealers that were regulars...they were from vegas....not a real body part left on them! nice peeps tho! hiya! see ya at the playa! (leave the machine guns, grenades, and cadilliac home though..the one with your underground shooting range lmao...sorry you have to DRIVE to deliver the weapons...even BEFORE 911)

back to the spinach salad event......and then after i got bandaged (911 ambulance, i'm a hardy soul) and returned to the four top to make flambe deserts i joked that "at least my right hand was ok, as i made the jerk off motion,,,omg,,,one of the women laughed so hard i had to do the hiemlick [sp] manuveur and fucking a...i mean it wasn t working with my fists...eventually i was tossing her around like a RAG DOLL and had to even go as far as to USE A TABLE MADE OF MARBLE WITH BULL NOSED EDGE TO TRY to dislodge what ever was choking her to death! finally the ambulance came BACK and saved her life....they left me a $250 tip...it was a wild night!

back to winco... and the one on Hawthorne hub....that is NEAR the best water place on bman website...the one with REAL srping water...also big box stores galore....i can try to find address and be warned, sometimes they are out of black raspberry....agh! and even if it is altitude effected, buy it...squeeze the thing first, try to avoid the puuffed and then unpuffed ones....i have been given a speeding ticket for driving it BACK to tahoe before it melts...in an ice chest....i screamed at the cop "my ice cream is melting, can you hurry up!" no lie...then i signed and took off fast-ish...it was safe and woirth it, i guess....

(i make REAL cherries jubliee btw...with flames 5 feet+++...fire drinks 15 fucking feet high man....i light my hand on fire and then a twirling candy coated rimmed glass with the fire from my hand and make curtains of sparkling multi colored colored flames also mushroom clouds from explosions from this ancient flambe recipe NOT average stuff it flames high! also can do it with blue berries etc fruit berries...i am a former Maitre'd from the Silver Circle....reno, tahoe, vegas...atlantis, cal.neva, luxor....i may do this edible fire drink and or flambe as an art fire show...not this year....and there's more but it's a SURPRISE!

BTW, if they have the tillamook white cheddar wheels aged 10 years, $10 on sale or $15...get one! eat with red delicious apples...the cream and acidic apples will blend into GOURMET for the man with the can plan or a fast GOURMET treat...try with a good sharp white wine or maybe red...tricky if red....i KNOW food....and wine.....mmm...mmmm....

btw, 5 years ago, i saw burners gassing up at that winco hub....i never really paid attention to burningman...always worked for everyone else so they could go.....anyway...those burners looked so kind and mellow....i was entralled, i went into my winco groceries and as if in a trance...and feeling a bit shy...i walked over and handed them a big huge CHILLED watermelon....they were in a BIG truck with circus tents? and they quietly cut it up with a big gleaming knife and we ate then and there....then they did some acrobatics and we parted ways....odd to this day....i think winco has good vibes...it is open 24/7 and takes ONLY cash bag yourself and it does have an atm...yuk....the BULK food is GOOD dried cherries, blueberries and tions of other stuff! (mal mart next door too and hmless depot etc)

if you cannot google it, ask me in PM and i will look in my reno phone book....i hope you get the black raspberry....i cannot get it this good (or at all on west coast, maybe santa baarbara???) unless on east coast....btw costco usually has beta produce, then winco, then welll...anywhere,,,raleys always THE BEST but costs more....free reno phone books at raleys near atlantis btw! if yoou drive south from atlantis, down 395 you will see that winco....not sure how they are for the blac raspberry ice cream though....it's def worth the try! then if you need to go north and exit off 395 onto hawthorne hub area...the other winco is there....yum yum....

Thanks.
I will definitely be looking for it next time.

I can recommend the Somerset Creamery in Fall River for Black Raspberry shakes.
Great ice cream.

My only concern is if you have enough enthusiasm for burning man.

Oh yeah! I will...working on that to do list for BM 2011! (just bought Testers Paint today, your suggestion Sham!)

I looked at this thread to look n see if I had a "Hey there, welcome to eplaya" greeting from jkisha and copy paste it back at him for some other thread as a joke....anyway, I never got one BUT I did get a big laugh when I re-read the whole, short thread...bladdermouth virgin and all...hahaha....too funny...I never knew who MM was! I'll get around to making them fire drinks someday/year! I think they are probably fairly busy people! (I also quoted the ONE LH post just for kicks, now also part of my profile) Perhaps we should let this sink into archives? hahahaha...or not, I am not scared! They are burners too righto? :D
