ha ha! I was JUST thinking that this morning.burner von braun wrote:Started riding my bike to get my legs in better shape and my back side refamiliar with ye old bicycle seat
I wish I had a stationary bike. Riding around in 101 degrees (not including 100+ humidity and "feels like" temp) is the suck.

Reno will be ready for you guys. FRET NOT! There is a Trader Joes, Whole Foods & evil Wal Mart relatively close to each other. South McCarren area of town. Google it. Whole Foods goes out of their way to make us happy. You can get great beer in the can there. & I think a ride share meets there?? they are kinda spendy thoughjunglesmacks wrote:I'm wondering about this too.. Are the Walmarts usually stocked with 50,000 gallons of drinking water or what?EmilyD wrote:In regards to shopping in Reno, do places like Trader Joe's really stock enough food (say meat and such) for the swarm that's coming in?C.f.M. wrote:I started the lists last night. What to Buy in Reno
Metapacking (already over a page long, sigh)

We used to fill up at Crystal Springs Water Co., in Reno, right off 395. No danger of them running out of water. Very easy to fill the 5 gal water bottles, too, which is what we use. Looks like they might not be in business any more, though.
I might save the weight this year anyway, though, since Gerlach has set up a water fill station now. Why drive all that weight all the way from Reno when you can fill up right in Gerlach? And the price is very reasonable, comparable to Reno except you save hours of fuel costs with the extra weight.
Lots of other water options here, too: http://www.burningman.com/preparation/e ... water.html

No but yeah, roasted nori is the shiznt. That would be Korean style.. they always package that dumbass 10 lbs of plastic for 5mm's of nori. It's a little saltier than the Japanese version, which usually comes in thin plastic packs. yummy stuff, just usually loaded with MSG.

My Camp Medallion is being cut.
My Camp medallion giftie project MASTER is being cut tonight.
I just ordered the silicone mold and polyurethane casting resins, too.

I got several EL Wire strings from the Chinese vendor on EBAY, hope they actually arrive.
Trying to develop the FOOD List.

With a slight set back in my back pain, I started thinking that maybe driving isn't the best option. So, I decided to take the train to meet up with some friends in San Fran and drive over to Reno with them. Train is less than flying (and even driving) and I can take enough bags with me on the train as long as I am super organized!
So, purchased train ticket

doing a cold-brewed ice coffee test. If it works out I'll cold-brew about a gallon before I leave, pre-mix it with soy-creamer & sugar, and I'll have my ice coffee ready to roll on the playa!
Cold brew: 2.5 quarts water
1 pound roughly ground coffee
Put the coffee & water in a gallon container & stir thoroughly. It will look like sludge. Let sit at room temp for 12 hours.
Strain through coffee filters or double folded cheese-cloth. Resulting coffee concentrate can be mixed 1-1 with water to make a strong cup of coffee.
The last paragraph is the theory. Tomorrow I'll let you know if it actually tastes good.

I like the cold brew coffee concentrate. The system I use does not advise stirring the coffee up, but rather slowly pouring water and adding coffee bit by bit, so the bulk of the coffee is wet, but actually floats a bit above the filter at the bottom. If it sits directly on the filter, it takes forever to drain as the coffee just fouls the filter up. ymmv, but I think you'll really like the resulting brew any way you go.Eric wrote:doing a cold-brewed ice coffee test. Would i be considered a moron if I wore my keens? I have flat feet and they are the most comfortable. Wish I could wear some great boots but would pay for it later
Not a silly question--it's my first time, too. But, generally in life, I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of me, and it saves all KINDS of second-guessing, anxiety, etc. I've found that the more I'm just myself, in whatever setting, the more my life has turned out the way I've wanted it to. Worrying about what other people think wastes your energy and can keep you from reaching your fullest potential.

Let's see if I can post all the responses I'm thinking:
jella: GREAT PANTS!!! Can't wait to see the hats.
VArocketry: That is a beautiful piece, anyone receiving one will be lucky!
winebuff: As a fellow newbie, and a wearer of Keens, listen to bling! Let me add, the MOST important thing about footwear is that it be COMFORTABLE!!!! Who gives a fuck what anyone thinks? But...you can fancy up your Keens for your own entertainment if you want. I'm making pink pleather spats to go over mine. :-)
