Paper Lantern + Bike = Howdtheydothat?
Paper Lantern + Bike = Howdtheydothat?
Second year trying to attach a paper lantern to my bike. PVC piping isn't flexible enuf! I've considered getting a fishing pole to attache the damn thing to.
Has anyone successfully attached a hanging paper lantern off a pole trailing their bike? Please share your wisdom. Many humble thanks and dusty hugs in advance.

My girlfriend used a metal plant hanger that you would normally bang into the ground to hold a lantern on her bike. We just zip tied it like crazy to the back of the bike frame.
Why are you going for flexible instead of hard?
If you need some give for the lantern in the wind, than you could go with a metal pole and a short bungee to attach it with.

Consider a bamboo or fiberglass windsock pole. Long and flexible. Try this website. May even have a bracket to accomodate.

Wonderful idea! Followed some safety flag links to find this great fiberglass pole page: http://www.cobrakite.com/accents.html Going to get one of these bad boys and zip-tie the bujeebus out of it to the back.

Boots, I found these really great LED round lights at wallyworld back in the camping section. Lightweight, and have a carbinger type clamp attached. This could probably attach very easily inside your lantern. They are really bright but unfortunately use double A batteries. Something solar would be ideal as it can sit and charge all day and you wouldn't have to telescope it down to turn it on for your night time adventures. Come sundown, it'll come on itself.

Thank you epalya and all you wonderful burner. Where there is google + eplaya there is a way. Can't wait to get my lantern on this summer. Also you can purchase solar powered chinese lanterns that already come assembled.
