one-way ticket there, and then getting a ticket back once I get back to Reno Monday?

This is the first trip I've ever booked for myself/time I've bought airline tickets...I was thinking it might be simpler to get back to Reno and see what would be a good time to fly out, rather than getting a time and having to stick to it.

If cost is no object, that's the best way to go.

It will be a LOT more expensive. Just do a quick search online of ticket prices leaving with today's date, versus a date in Sept........

If you wait until the last minute, the price will be sky-high.

You can but like they were saying it will be expensive and depending on the day you try to fly out stand-by might be your only option.

You might want to book your flight later in the week so you aren't pressed for time.

Crazy expensive seems to be the consensus. I'll go ahead and get it now. Thanks!

If time and money were no object, well, shit, I'd be there now.

Don't they have those last minute deals on hotwire, priceline etc? Might be an option if you can hang out a few days waiting to fly. :)

I know, just put your plane fare on the blackjack table and see if you win enough for a last minute flight. :D

That would be about as fruitful as thumbing it on the runway.

Just be careful of what is in your checked luggage. If you buy a last minute one-way ticket, you are going to get the special security treatment though the entire trip.

Yes, everyone knows that suicidal terrorists are always concerned about spending money.

Usually easier and cheaper to change a flight than get a one way ticket.

I missed my flight out of San Francisco because I was busy doctoring a cat.
They put me on a late night flight.
Not a desirable flight, but no charge.
But I was there trying to get through security when I missed the flight, so that may matter.
My airline specified a $100 charge to change dates within a period of months.

Seems like tickets have become much worse than then.

Drive what back? Renting a car for a one-way cross-country trip?

You're quite mad, you know. Bonkers, really. ;)

I'd be driving back with one of the three groups that I'd be driving there with, if I had spare time. For driving. A car.

I'm just impressed that you're driving out with three groups at once.

well maybe each is taking only a part and once they reach the playa they will put her back together.

That makes more sense that a slip of the tongue.
