Most forums I'm on allow companies to come on and talk directly to people.
I was trying to remember and I don't think any of them have ever been disciplined by the mods for stupid behavior.
This is because it is self punishing.

I have seen companies that are honest and direct, do well because they are on there.
I have also seen more than one company lose business or vanish completely, after being caught shilling or lying.
Person to person marketing is very effective, both positive and negative.
So it cuts both ways, literally.

I have known Armadillo for several years (has been a camp mate of mine some years) and Ludo for a few. They aren't spammers. People might remember Ludo from Spikes and Armadillo as a playa marriage coordinator. They are saying "no cup, no drink" and offering to provide a cup for you on the playa. Considering that they live in the East coast, getting those things made and getting them to the playa for you probably isn't netting them much.

Basically it looks to me like they are encouraging people to get their own playa cup to keep the moop down and even giving you a way to secure it so you don't lose it.

It is actually a little bit of acculturation disguised as a fundraiser is how I see it. They are good people, but I am biased as I know them and like them.
