the last 2 weeks the exercise program (39 min on treadmill) has gone to shit. Plan on jumping back on this weekend and sticking to it, it is so much easier to keep it going than to miss a day, which turns into 2 days, 3 days, etc. But i have lost a few pounds but if i don't watch it, they will be right back on my ass. I am just one big yoyo

Keep going back. It's not the falling but the getting back up that counts.

With everything weird this year, I've given up hope for an afternoon soap and a bottle of cold beer.....

So if I just want to tone my body and hopefully gain some muscle weight, is it ok to join? if not, i get it.

Go YG! Go Doug!

AntiM - I know what your saying. This past year I started working out than one thing after another happened and Now my treadmill is dusty. You know what might help? I know it won't change the world but it could help a little. You and Larry should take a weekend to yourself. No family, no cell phones, no drama. Just the two of you together having a nice dinner, sleeping in and doing the things you love. And try to get a little sun on your skin. Even if its ten minutes a day. Trust me it helps. ((AntiM))

I too have fallen off the treadmill. Dammit i was doing so good too. Now when i get off work i just want to sit by the pool and have a cold beer. I try to make up for the lack of exercise by not eating so much, but then the late nite muchies hit. Oh will this vicious cycle never end?

Don't try to eat less but instead try to eat smaller meals more often. And have healthy things that substitute for whatever your craving. Want something sweet? eat strawberries. Want something salty? try low calorie or low butter popcorn. Know that meeting that should take an hour will consume your lunch hour? Try a healthy tail mix (nuts, raisins, etc. - but no m&M's).

But thats just my two cents.

The pinched nerve seems to have knocked me off bicycles for good, so I'm off the pace myself. But I do make use of random opportunities for natural excercise.

Planted a tree today. Dug the hole much deeper than most folks would, thru the clay and into a sandier layer with better water flow. Good for the tree and good for me.

my sister was in a car accident and now with the spinal injury she can walk but she can't move her furniture or even sweep. its hard for her to think this maybe how it is for the rest of her life.

Awesome tree planting. I'd help you with it but somehow i'd kill i so its nicer ::backs up:: if i stay back here.

Ah, FT, Larry doesn't get regular weekends off, and he just took five/six unpaid days. Our time off this month was spent doing stuff for dad's funeral.

I'll find a balance. Maybe not today though.

In that case, remember Sake is a starch but gin is a vegetable. You should eat your veggies.

This site is pretty handy if you want to compare foods. You can sort stuff by whatever you want to do, low glycemic index, lose weight, etc. It rates stuff by fullness factor too.

haven't put on any holiday pounds, haved stayed the same but that's not really a good thing either. I swear I have to aerobic exercise for at least 40 minutes everyday to see any results. If I get sick or life gets in the way then my exercise goes out the window...had the flu for 2 weeks then turkey holiday festivities. I got back on the treadmill for 37 minutes this evening though, now if I can just keep the momentum going...

I thought it was "cold brew"? :? (Then again, it has been years since I heard that song-- more than I care to think about!)

Hey, I didn't know that there was an ePlaya Fitness Club! :o

Starting in January, I am planing on doing the Transformation Challenge ( http://www.transformation.com/pages/index ) I figure I have too many things going on before the new year, plus it will probably take me that long to get everything ready around here (such as getting my bedroom ready for exercising in and at least one of my bicycles in riding shape, etc.)

I've already started to work on my FINANCIAL fitness..., which is progressing much slower than I would like.

I'm in. I signed a pledge for a tobacco free discount on my health insurance, starting Jan. 1. That and oh, trying to re-introduce my body to my mind. They've been roommates that have ignored each other for too long. Mind has the lease, and thinks that is all that counts. The place has gone to shambles. I've got the electrified commuter bike that whines to me from the corner in the garage. It's really a lot of fun when I pay attention to it. And who can't have a little more fun in their life?

:D
Well, whaddayaknow -- this thread got bumped!

I'm still unable to bicycle much, what with the shoulder problem, but I am going on brisk walks once in a while. Perhaps I can do that more often. The place I walk is Anderson Marsh State Park, which has several miles of good hiking trails. And there is no MOOP or trashy properties there, which makes it a unique oasis in this run-down town. I almost always see deer out there, sometimes very close to me.

The really good news is that I have reduced a bit this year. Friends have been telling me I look slimmer. I can see it around my waist, and some people tell me they can see it on my face and neck also. (Or maybe I'm just cutting my beard shorter? )

I have learned that I may be sensitive to gluten, so I'm eating less bread. And eating less overall, I suppose.

..... .....

A neighbor just brought me a big slab of cake. Italian Cream Cake or some such, she called it. But I will NOT eat it all at once, which I would have done a year ago. And I figure I'll go for a walk after lunch.
:D

OK, I'm in.

Doing portion control and getting exercise at least every other day. Helped a friend move today so that's got to count for something.

Hikes with my dog and 11 year old are too slow paced to really get my heart rate up so I want to take some solo as well.

Then there's the Nordic Track which gets me some low impact, upper and lower body. That and a couple sets of push-ups makes me feel like I've done my grim duty, but the right music makes anything fun.

6 out of the last 7 days I got on the treadmill. 2.6 miles at 40 minutes a day. This is a pretty good clip for me but I am trying to get my mile time down...just takes time and dedication. One thing that helps me is I make a big X on the calendar for each day that I work out. I like seeing alot of X's in a row. I also got a weighted hula hoop and do that at work periodically through the day.
