I've been sorting dad's papers, shredding dad's old bills and paying his new ones. Have to make calls and fax shit and so on and on. Tidying up a man's life of 87 years. Not burnery at all, neh?
I look at the half done paintings and cringe. Costumes and gear? Good thing I'm no virgin, we're going to fall back on what we got at this point. Well, I do want a horsehead thong for MyLarry (complicated). Kitchen box and such as done, the big projects for Larry are redoing the carport pole burritos, sorting out our lights, and getting the bikes in gear. Yeah.

AntiM, because my mother couldn't be bothered, I put my grandfathers affairs in order after his death last year. While it is not the same as your experience, I have to say...tackling the burn and alll that work...I am impressed. It's a monumental task.
Sending lots of strength and support.

Been going through all my weirdest/coolest clothes and deciding what i'll wear vs. what i'll donate (to the black rock boutique? to passing burners who look my size?). i figure there are always people who will wear and appreciate stuff better or more than me.
added a leopard print stripe up the side of my pants. i plan to do another, but hand stitching makes this a pain, so i'm procrastinating a little on that one.
went to a local party supply store and found some ridicu-mazing sunglasses and the last two light-up blinky spiked bracelets for super cheap.
bought a new pair of goggles last week.
dug out the dust covered duffle bag with a mini-sledge/vice grips/rebar. can't stop smacking the bag and sniffing up all the playa that clouds off of it.

I figured out how to pack my stuff in for the train! I was thinking plastic bins, but, no, Amtrak won't take them. So, I was trying to think of other options. Today I was at walmart waiting for a prescription and saw these travel trunks. Perfect size, with latching lids, can add a padlock.

And the best part...I needed 3 for my trip. And, in the sea of blue, there were THREE HOT PINK ones. PERFECT! (I am camping with Pink Heart Camp). Thank you universe for coming through and throwing out such a big sign! I bought them and took them down to the train station to make sure they would be okay, and they are! Yippee! I also got some space bags to help give me even more room.
I must say I really do love that if you throw something out to the universe, it magically appears! THANK YOU!

This story is AWESOME! One word to the wise, I know there are two kinds of space bags:
1. The kind you use a vaccume to pack.
2. The kind you roll to remove the air.
If you have the FIRST kind, TAKE THEM BACK TO THE STORE! Unless you will have a vaccuum on playa...otherwise you will have stuff you can't pack out with you...and that's no bueno! Good luck, and have an AWESOME burn!

Spare batteries - be sure to carry some in your day/night pack. Last year just as the Man was starting to burn I heard the guy sitting next to me say something to the effect that his camera died (he was a little more explicit). That was one of the better gifts I was able to give - spare batteries. I buy the large packs of AA and AAA from Costco to bring.
You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

Good advice. Thanks.C.f.M. wrote:If you have to "justify" it, I say nay. Wait for post-Xmas sales and stock up then.Hoolie wrote:Just ordered some nice canvas tarps to upgrade and expand my shade structure. It's going to be so sweet!
Now I'm trying to justify $100 worth of LED rope lights to light the thing. Yea or nay?

OMG and praise the Goddess! We have our shade structure finally! We need to practice setting it up this weekend and I need to make the panels of shade cloth for the sides but YIPEEE, it's here after tense months of waiting. Also today I put grommets in a canvas tarp that we'll be nailing to the playa in front of our trailer as a rug. I also removed all the decorations from the dash of my artcar to redo especially for y'all's enjoyment on the Playa. Three sets of solar string lights will keep the interior visible all night!
You don't have to be skinny, naked and under 30 to be a Hottie!
On with the lists...I can't wait for Mon/Tues (my next days off) to start on packing. I lost the lists I made last week.
General list
Food to get in Reno, divided into cooler/non-cooler
box of probably won't use (extra batteries, spare eye drops, mattress repair)
Yesterday I got a bike hooked up!! (<--read about the Cab Company!)

got two of these batteries at Weird Stuff in Sunnyvale... they have an online store too. What a very cool place full of computer junk mainly. shelves and shelves full of cardboard boxes with black sharpie written descriptions and prices. I was in a hurry, and saw some LEDs out of the corner of my eye, but I was focused on batteries and then onto another appointment. 7600mAH, actually fairly compact, maybe 7x1x2"... 12V, nimh. My ammo can boombox is coming together.

Picked up two double wall stainless steel covered 16 oz drink cups from Wally World today. $4.95 each. I'll use carabineers to connect them to either my pants or pack. They can double as coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. They look like this picture from another site...
