The hubby found a brand new set of gov't issue all leather Altama combat boots, still in the box, in the bottom of the closet last night.
Huzzah!
I took a hot shower with them on this morning so they'll conform to my feet.
Tomorrow, I start shining them!
Huzzah!
Happy feet = Happy Clarity
25 Days and a Wake Up till I leave for the Playa!

WHEW! We spent the last two days, solid, setting up the shade structure (it's 10' tall x 12' wide x 20' long) and I think it's going to work great! Today we worked on the shade cloth, but it's still not done. Turns out the Gorilla tape didn't stick to it very well and the cut edges curl really badly so I'm sewing all the cut edges (over 80 feet!!!) I'll be working on the panels again tomorrow. Although this is a lot of work, I'm certain it will pay off big time on the Playa. Without this shade our little pop-up trailer would be too hot to be in most of the time.

Did just that. Cut up the rain flap and my wife sewed the pieces over the screens. This tent is 99.9 % dust resistant. No ventilation but dust resistantgeospyder wrote:Think I may take the rain flap since it is already sized, cut it up and sew it in place over the screen areas. This tent was meant for Burningman only so it can be experimented with.VeganChoirGirl wrote:Sew material over the vents. Cover tent with big old blanket and use clamps to keep it on. Voila.geospyder wrote:Big problem today. Opened up the tent I got for my brother-in-law a few months back and found out it is almost all screen. Definitely won't work on the Playa.
Modified for reality

I'm now one bolt away from having my staff holder on my bike. Torqued the last one too much and snapped the bolt. Dammit.
Re: Putting things in one place.
Makes it more real AND you are able to see something you missed and be able to just throw it in that vicinity. It's also nice to have an empty bin to throw the misc. last minute stuff.

Too many?? I've got 120 lights on steady and 60 flashing. If I decide to take my bike trailer I'll be adding another 60 to that plus sound system. I wasn't aware of such a thing as too many, what do I know?? Am I the only one going overkill? I doubt it!!geospyder wrote:Too many lights on my bike. Need to get semi-realistic. Thirty flashing multi colored leds should be plenty to be seen. The others can be sewn onto vests. No full moon this year.
Sooner or later, it will get real strange...

It took me all day to make the end panels for the shade structure. I was able to at least cut the other four panels. I will hem and grommet them on Wed. I look forward to this big project being done so I can get back to fun stuff like my coat and boot spats.

yes Clarity, I know what you mean. I watch for them at work, usually guess when they are looking for led lights, reflectix, rebar stakes, and drilling hammers, duct tape, rope, black plastic etc. I haven't had the nerve to ask anyone directly, but it makes me feel good to think I've spotted one.

going to get one of these fake cameras... it has a little motor and motion detector that makes it turn a little when it detects motion. I'm going to set it on a post (sorry mdf) and watch how people respond to it.

I've been putting those in the porta potties for the last several years. Last year I went in to install one, and I swear to god, there was one still there that I had put in from the year before. I know it was one of mine since I changed the bracket and use double stick tape. I almost crapped myself laughing. Thank goodness I was by a toilet!Fire_Moose wrote:Put one in the port-o-pot
Those are really neat! Are they pendants?junglesmacks wrote:I was wracking my brain for what to bring for giftables.. until.. duh.. I remembered that I have this glass shop in the back of my house..
I figure 10 a day between now and then.. easy 200 of them.

I also like how it appears your yard is the exact same size as the shade! Too perfect!

Totally beautiful. Glass is a wonderful gift. Each one is a little unique and it's something someone can wear on AND off the playa. For people like me who cannot boldly proclaim their love for the playa at work or in other parts of their default life can wear it and have that little bit of home with them.EmilyD wrote:mmmmmmm glass preetttty!
