Black Rock Diner looking for acoustic musicians for daytime

Postby mearadw » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:54 pm

The Black Rock Diner has been around for, oh, about five years now, serving up hot grilled cheese and warm good vibes in the wee, wee hours before sunrise. Since the primary function of our theme camp is all about late night, we're looking to see if we can't cultivate more daytime activity this year. We'll be located in the 4:30 keyhole, where we've been throwing down the cheese gauntlet for the past few years.

We're looking for acoustic musicians to play in our large chillspace during daylight hours. We're genre-curious, friendly folks; all we ask is that you be unplugged.

Although we love for people to drop in and jam, we'd also like to try to line things up somewhat if possible. So please reach out if this is something you'd like to do. (On the other hand, if you find yourself wandering by the diner once you get out there and just happen to have your guitar/violin/baby grand handy, walk-in jams are always welcome.)

How about a keytar? It's not technically acoustic, but it is technically unplugged (runs on batteries) and self-amplified.

We will have a large casbah-themed chill space, with stage.

My dream is that we get some folks who can play something that sounds like it's from the Middle East or North Africa.

Also, any suggestions for casbah music?

Open to suggestions for playlists that evoke images of North Africa . . .

You folks are my heros! You fed me -- in 2007, when I was a 4:30 and C!

My Baby Brand will not get to the Playa until next year. But I am bringing a regular piano that I can tow around, so I will try to park it at the Diner for a while.

Can't wait to hear you tickle the ivories in the casbah. And don't forget to stop by for grilled cheese. :)

Oh, not me -- I cannot play!
That's Talito's job. My job is to bring pianos. Three or four this year -- that seems to be all I have room for. Maybe I'll park one at the Diner for a day, and surely somebody will play it.

I'd love ta come by the diner and share some music. Ya can check some more acousticated sounds here michaelkatakyie.bandcamp.com/, and more digifried sounds here biomimicrant.bandcamp.com/. Plannin ta have a guitar, a flute, a laptop, and a vocal chord or two with me. Might borrow a few vocal chords from whoever's in the camp ;)
