GPS coordinates of a given point in map
GPS coordinates of a given point in map
Hi,
I'm looking for precise GPS coordinates of one or two points of the official map so that I can georeference it and put it into my GPS.
I know some people are getting in early, maybe the could publish that information ?
Thanks

The golden spike ceremony usually happens in early August. This is the spot they build the man and the whole city is built from that reference point.
Until that happens, no one knows.
The data is usually released shortly after.
William Keller has published Garmin maps the last few years. Check here mid August:

Based on the data, The Man looks to be at:
40.78639, -119.20650
Center Camp at:
40.78164, -119.21277
Have fun!

William Keller = my new cartographer hero.
I converted/installed his map in my Garmin Mapsource program and created a set of waypoints for the fence, esplanade intersections and outer intersections. If anyone would like them, in Garmin .gdb format, they are here:

Obviously, this is unofficial stuff. I wouldn't trust it for skydiving blindfolded into Center Camp or anything ....
