Dang. I don't think I'll be in my mad scientist wear. All that white just seems...misguided.

No carnation in my lapel.

Anyway, started with the busts for my booby installation. Tried to take photos of HFWWA art.

Those are freaking cool. I must have a pair of sweet cargo pants!!!

Oy. Now to decide if I should have my sewing machine serviced and attempt to resurrect my rusty skills, pathetic as they are, or find someone I can just pay to make some for me...

It took me 3 weeks to get my sewing machine serviced. You might want to call around and ask about wait time if that's what you decide to do. It also cost me $75 for a tune-up.

It's been a while, but there are plenty of local shops that do it. Only took a few days last time I had it done. But yeah, the cost is pretty high. Definitely tips in favor of just having it made.

Get some plain scrubs from a thrift store. Use it as a pattern or a lining, and sew your material on it.

Get some cargo shorts from the thrift store.

Take the pockets off.

Put them wherever you want on your new pants.

If I had time, I'd tell you to pay me to make them.

Of course, then the pockets wouldn't match the pants.

If you decide you have time, shoot me a PM. ;)

Cover them with the fabric, patches, dye, etc.

Or make regular pockets (shapes of fabric) and sew on.

Had a very productive weekend!
Saturday, had an RV expert come out and show me how all the water lines (clean, gray, and black) work. And what all the valves do. And more importantly how to figure out what they do in case I forget what each position on each valve does (pretty much guaranteed). After he left I spent two hours getting acquainted with Da Bounder's undercarriage. I had never oiled a chassis before, and I'm glad the first time I did it was an RV were there is plenty of room underneath.
I'm very lucky and very grateful that Ashly's dad is a mechanic (cause I don't know much about cars), and that he is letting us store the RV at his place where he has a full working professional garage.
I also, Replaced a couple of sections of fuel vent line. Spent more time waiting for the hose to get dropped off than installing it.
The cab air conditioner doesn't get cold, after looking at the AC system its still set up for the old R-12 Freon (it is a 1989, for Pete sake. ). So now were talking about what it will take to get the AC working.
The roof mount AC units, that run off the generator or land power, are in good shape... except for the fins on the coils on the back of the AC units. We got a little 'fin comb' from Napa, doesn't work for shit or I'm doing something wrong. If were gonna try to run the AC in the desert I need to fix those fins before we leave. So other than the AC (both under the hood and on the roof) Da Bounder is looking pretty awesome!

On Sunday we went and bought all our alcohol. Got plenty of beer and liquor (at least I hope). We also went to Sam's Club and got a lot of our snacks, drinks, and mixers. We still need to go to a regular grocery store and get some of the things we don't need a 30day supply of (just cause a half gallon of sour cream is a good deal, doesn't mean you need a half gallon of sour cream). We're also gonna wait tell the day before we leave to get our tortillas, bread, and cheeses.
Best part of both shopping trips, after we split each bill 4 ways it came in almost exactly on budget!
Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

got two playa bikes this weekend- one is getting painted (for me), the other one is a cute white cruiser so I'm leaving it alone (it's for a friend to use)

Picked up a pair of cheap but comfortable almost knee-high boots at a flea market. They're only Hot Topic quality, but they'll last for the playa as long as the side zipper doesn't go janky on me. For $25 bucks I'll feel like I got my money out of them in a day or two.

Tasting my way through the Trader Joe's vegan food options- there are a surprising amount. I'm getting tired of eating playa food the last two days, but I'd rather know I can live with my options then spend money on a stinker (their non-refrigerated heat-n-serve pastas are crap, BTW) The "Trader Ming's" noodles & sauce are going to get a work out- they're really tasty, esp the Kung Pao.

only need a few more outfit things & I'm set. Keeping it simple & re-using as much as possible. I will have to get some more lights for this year, some of my EL has died.

Crickey, it's finally dawning on me that I leave for the playa in 3 weeks. Shit.

Got an american science and surplus box today: pocket protectors, plastic graduated cylinder, pocket rulers, AG 13 batteries, 4oz plastic "specimen" jars, ping pong balls. You know, regular order.

Big weekend.

Bought all the non-perishable groceries (except peanie boo and ritz crackers). Bought all the liquor.

Got my beater and my yanker (mini sledge and vice grips ((have found that vice grips make yanking rebar SUPER easy, just grip them as far down the rebar as you can and then use another piece of rebar to lever it out. easy as pie)))

discarded old tent, embraced new tent.

also have been compiling set lists of the sound camps, so i can trace out the biggies i wanna hit. fun, but serious research involved!

No, because if you're enough of an idiot to be wearing them on your ears, you're beyond the beat of any fashion cop.

I started a skirt out of some remnants, finished my Playawaste armor corselet, started on my Thunderdome evil jacket, moved some piles around and called it "tidying up," picked a water bladder and worked more on my hip belt...per usual, pics and further details on the buhlog.

I had a happy mail box yesterday. I got my Ludo's mug in one package, and another package was a shit ton of button batteries to replace the dead ones on all my wheel lights.
