Playa Balls! How to avoid?

Post by Gravitas » Tue Aug 10, 2010 8:05 am

Last year, my ballsack was exposed to playa dust regularly. Eventually the skin became red, itchy and dry, and started to peel a bit.

Can I avoid this by spraying vinegar on my cojones? ... then wiping down my scrote, adding lotion & wearing briefs all the time to keep the lotion moist?

It seems like a decent strategy, but I want to hear any tips from former Playa Balls sufferers. I'll be on the playa for over 2 weeks this time around, so I need to take proper care of my junk.

I don't really want to wear briefs, I'd rather let my giant bollocks swing free in the breeze. But it seems like it might help if they were packed into briefs with plenty of lotion.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

I use Gold Bond to powder my equipment. Works great.

Baby powder works great. :) Were you walking around nude or with shorts on?

It is within the realm of possibility that you may have a rich yeast population living down there. Most men are asymptomatic when this occurs.

The crotch can be rather acidic compared to skin elsewhere. When you hit the playa, that usually changes due to the mild alkali nature of the dust.

It might be worthwhile to have a doctor look into this.

If nothing else, a nice yogurt treatment is both safe and generally beneficial regardless of what is going on in the jungle.

Doing a five minute dip with warm yogurt daily before the playa will get all the good culture and bacillus on the jewels. You want to make sure the temperature of the yogurt is warm enough for the culture to be active. Body temp is usually good enough.

Alternately, you could go with a medicated powder, but consulting a physician would be best before considering that option.

Good Luck.

Don't know about playa balls, but this stuff works wonders for chafing thighs.

How about.. treat your sack like your feet? Keep it covered, loved and powdered with boxer briefs and Gold Bond..

(psst.. I think the burn can live without seeing your sack. It will be ok.)

Little Billy Hunter has the same problem, and endorses MonkeyButt PowderTM to keep his balls from chafing on the Playa.
Ace hardware has it on the shelf, as well as some of the chain drug stores in your neck of the woods.

For already irritated skin, I use Penaten skin creme. I'm a cyclist so chafing and heat rash is pretty much one occupational hazards. I also never go camping without it.

Gold bond is good but can often sting on chafed bits. I use a home-made mix of cornstarch, tea tree oil, and some lavender or vanilla to keep my skin dry without the burnination.

Sadly, I'll have to leave my home-made mix at home. I suspect the border patrol won't be particularly happy with finding a baggy of fine white powder in my stuff.

Bring the oils and buy cornstarch on the way. Its readily available in the States. I have a load of it because Potato Starch is not the easiest thing to find in Houston and when you do its often sold out. It runs about 78 cents to $1.50 depending on if it mattes if you have a certain brand.

I'm considering it. I've got a 4 day road trip ahead of me and some DIY in the back seat might while away the hours.

Okay. At the risk of making eye contact with the crazy guy and having him follow me all week, I do have a suggestion. Go to your profile and check off the button that says "disable bbcode".

Fixed! And hey, I'm not any crazier than the rest of y'all loonies... I do love talking about ball sacks though.

The yogurt ball-dip sounds lovely indeed. Sounds like a good spectator event.

Maybe I should get a little black bar on a stick to save me from all that unsightly shirk cocking.
Question: How long can an eplaya thread about nudity go without mentioning shirt-cocking?

Sun burned skin gets red, dry, itchy and peels,,, maybe you just need to put some sunscreen on the dangly bits.
