New burner from Melbourne Australia

Post by darmou » Sat Aug 07, 2010 1:13 am

Hi all,

I will be staying on month in the US. I accidentally booked tickets to and from Vegas rather than Reno so if anyone has any advice on how to fix this situation I would be very grateful. Fortunately my Delta ticket to Vegas is in two parts (first part to Salt Lake City) so it's then a matter of diverting from there to Reno.

Will be staying a few days in Vegas after the festival, before heading to San Francisco for a week.

You can always rent a car or take a bus. Las Vegas is not that far from Reno.

Thanks for your advice zifra, good to know that Vegas is driveable distance away. I would prefer to go with others if possible. I would be happy to rent a car and give others a lift. I'm a bit concerned with traveling by myself.

It's 8 hours, 450 miles from Las Vegas to Reno. Decent two lane, good gas and food, well, you can get it anyway. Seems like you could get on Rideshare and find someone to go with from Vegas, or maybe this forum.

I'm thinking, maybe Vegemite is really better on the playa. Be sure to bring some.

Thanks everyone for the offers. I've decided to fly to reno from Vegas and back and hire a car from reno to get to the festival and then drive back to reno before flying to Vegas on the 6th September.

I'm more into English marmite than vegemite, unfortunately very hard to get in Australia:( I will bring both along with me to share with others.

Found a good tool for "paint stripping" my torsos, cleaned up edges and put on a second coat.

Hey Darmou

I'm heading over from Melbourne too! We are going to have decompression here in October I hope and I'm trying to organise an aussie get together on the playa as well. At this stage I think it will be at 3pm on Tuesday at Centre camp. I think there will be a lot of us and it will be great to meet everyone and get some momentum for a desert burn here in Australia. If you have a flag and can make it on Tuesday bring it - it will help to find everyone.

By the way have you checked the rideshares? You may be able to find people to do the drive from Las Vegas, try here:

Goodluck and let me know if you can make it on Tuesday on the playa!
