Exodus Question(s)

Post by Fufa » Wed Aug 11, 2010 10:40 pm

How early on Sunday morning can you leave BRC? I'm assuming that as long as it's light out and safe to drive you can, but I wanted to ask to make sure.

My group needs to make it to Edmonton, Alberta by Monday night, and according to googlemaps (however accurate that is) it ends up being 26 hours of non-stop highway driving. We were planning on driving straight home, in shifts. Does anyone think we could make it if we left Sunday morn? How bad is the traffic getting out at that time?

Of course, we could also leave on Saturday... but it's our first year for all of us and we all want to see the Man burn Saturday night. :)

You can leave the event any time, day or night.

If you leave super early, like 4:00 am Sunday, the exodus line should be short and sweet. If later, might get a bit congested.

I have no clue about the Alberta part.

you can leave at any time of the day or night. We usually leave between
3-6am on Sunday Night / Monday Morning. There will be traffic at all times.

Since you are going north traffic won't be as bad once you hit the tar. It will take time to get to the tar though

4am was around the time we were considering. We were going to pack everything up on Saturday.

We did the same in 07. Packed everything up, went and watched the man burn. Hung out for a few hours, napped and hit the road. There was a small line of cars and RVs leaving at 4am but it was moving quick enough that we were on the road in 30 min. Try to be patient, it will be a looong slow drive out of there till you hit the freeway.

Important to note:

A half our difference in departure time may result in a multi-hour wait time in exodus line.

It's good to either check BMIR on radio or just go there on bike and ask. They are on ring road - center camp.
