Storage Near-playa? Empire/Gerlach? pallet/ship container
Hi. Jesus from the Black Rock Roller Disco
We are looking to store the roller disco floor and such near the playa.
Here's what would work well:
We pile everything onto two shipping pallets (or perhaps in a mini/half shipping container), wrapped so they'll survive a year outside, in our camp, and leave 'em.
A big flatbed truck comes and takes 'em away and brings 'em back next year.
It looks it will cost us around $1200 if we transport everything ourselves to a nearby storage place?
I found a couple old (2005) threads, from searching for 'gerlach storage':

JEFF!!! Hey! Yeah, I think we still have your bar; we had a bar last year, but I don't recall green astroturf. But then, you know how easy it is to get distracted at burning man...TomServo wrote:Hey Jesus, Jeff here. You still have my bar? You can burn it, if it helps. So the ranch won't store the plywood and masonite?
Yeah, D says they don't wanna store it for us no more, so we gotta find $ and do it ourselves. I don't know the details. But it was great to have while it lasted.

If its a burden, ill personally help haul that monstrosity to the burn. Never hauled containers, but y'all got a driver if you need one.Jesus wrote:JEFF!!! Hey! anything worth doing is worth overdoing..
The notion of a shipping container plopped at my camp location the week before gates open, and then picked up after the event and stored in Gerlach, makes me very horny.
Bruno's Storage just told me they have no shipping containers currently available for sale in Gerlach. They anticipate that 20' used containers would have purchase price of $2000+ when they become available. He confirmed $400/yr storage, $300 Gerlach-to-playa roundtrip transport.
A local (Salt Lake City) shipping container distributor quoted me $2000 to $2500 to purchase a used 20' shipping container. He indicated that shipping container pricing tends to rise and fall with the price of steel.
Seems like you can currently get a 20 footer for $1500 at a port city.
