Hey Ygmir, good on ya for losing weight! Saw a new doc last week he said "dude, lose the weight or it'll kill you" or something equally gentle. So I'm going paleolithic, nothing my great-great^17 ancestors couldn't have eaten. Although I suspect at the burn I'll eat any damned thing that appeals to me and comes within reach - I suppose that's sort of a hunter-gatherer approach, right?

WELL! I am back from the Central Valley and lovely Fresno from my cousins VERY catholic full Latin Mass wedding. Woo...that as a lot of god.
BUT! In other news, I saw my first bman hitchhiker of the year! He was in the Grape Vine. He had a backpacking pack, a black tutu clipped to the outside, and a banjo and held a sign saying, Burning Man. I would have taken him as far as Fresno....but the silly kid was on the side of the freeway. No way I could pull over safely with all those trucks and traffic. Anywho. Thought I would share.
Sounds like it has been busy in here while I was gone. Sorry to hear you have the added stress of moving, but the bright side...moving is the perfect time to re-evaluate the things you have and what's important. Stream line and reoganize. It can be really great.

yeah. I dont know about latin weddings but I know about Catholic Weddings. My older sisters wedding was an hour and 20 minutes of God. Standing, sittting, kneeling, standing, kneeling, and repeat. Ilove her, but trying to get a three year old to do them all is not fun.
But thats love.
I have already gotten rid of most everything. I am down to a table, two waist sized bokcases a tv (so I can watch my old VHS tapes), my computer, clothes, and a side table. Just basuc stuff. I don't like having a lot of stuff. Just the minimal stuff.

The two hour mass in latin spent almost all kneeling...not my thing, I have to say. Beyond that...listening to the homily (the only part partially in English) made me sick because it reduced marriage to baby making and sex to an "obligation" to god to bring forth new believers.swampdog wrote:FT: Looks delicious!! VCG - big catholic wedding sounds crazy. Was it fun crazy or just crazy-making crazy?
Seeing my three favorite girl cousins, fantastic. They are liberal and fun and we took advantage of the open bar (thank god Catholics love to drink). We even got our cousin who is in study to become a priest to take tequila shots with us. It was good.
The low point of the wedding...when my 2nd cousin decided that since I am adopted and we're only second cousins, it wouldn't be weird if we hooked up. I however have grown up with this guy as a very close family memeber (our family stays really close, even up to third and fourth cousins) and was totally uncomfortable and grossed out. How does one, nicely, say to their cousin...you're freaking me out!!! GET AWAY! My other cousins thought it was the funniest thing they have ever seen and it will now go down in Hein family history as one of those embarassing stories to be told and retold at family reunions, thanksgiving, and birthdays. Joy.
All in all...it was a good, but LOTS OF DRIVING weekend.

EWH! thats just wrong on so many levels. I've never had that happen. In some regards its wonderful to have a completely non-functional family that is certain I am not worthy of their presence because I'm gay. I only stay in contact with my sisters and neices and nephews. NO drama, and no weird cousin things.
Not trying to make excused for him but was he really drunk? And he really knew who you were?

Burning Man isn't about the stuff you see when you get there ....it's about the people that brought that stuff there

2 hrs of latin mass? On your KNEES? I'd be going crazy. Plus, I don't know if my knees would ever unbend.
I'm kinda jealous of the "all together with the 4th cousins" though. I may go see my sister for the first time in 10 years in a month - or maybe not. I have nothing in common with my family except genes and some misremembered (and often unhappy) memories.
I just paged through some Bar2 history to the leave it to beaver discussion. Lumpy Rutherford. Larry Mondello. Eddie Haskell. That's all I can do without Google.
I AM old.
