Greetings from Nuggets

Post by NuggetsGalore » Mon Aug 16, 2010 3:42 pm

I just signed up because I was hoping to learn about the weather conditions now on the playa figuring that its probably very much like what I've been told and read about on the website. Curious what nighttime temps are and also if it has rained much. what about forecasts? has runaway climate change effected the playa? are dust storms more frequent? is this information tracked or am I just demonstrating newbee angst?

Any frequency in the dust storms due to climate change is subsumed in the "noise" of the increase of frequency of dust storms due to greater usage of the playa. Besides, changes in local conditions cannot be directly linked to climate change; we don't know what things would have been like without it.
There are threads about playa conditions and about tempuratures. Poke around in the "Q&A, Tips and Tricks" sub-forum.

Images are dynamic and will update daily.

My buddy Brian has a few years of this data squirreled away on his sever.

You can always look up the MADIS data for this weather station DW1623.

The data for that site is from Lovelock, NV.

Unless you get arrested, you will not experience that weather.
