It's a Federal crime if I don't go to Burning Man this year!

I was sitting on the fence about going once again. I got my early tickets. But my themecamp, Wishingstar, dissolved this year. Most of my friends are skipping. So I was thinking about skipping this year also. Besides "I heard this year wasn't going to be any good." Although I alway enjoy myself.

NOW I GOTTA GO! Here's why:

Last Saturday I received in the mail a summons to appear for Jury duty at the US Court in Fresno. On Wednesday Sept 1. I live in Bishop, CA 250miles away over the Sierra Mountains taking a shortcut thru Yosemite. So I wrote the Court saying, "I can not show up for Jury duty that week as I have plans to be out of state on a Spiritual Retreat. This includes a memorial service for a friend who died this year when his 16y transplanted heart failed him. I have unrefundable reservations. Also I will be out of phone reach so it would be an extreme hardship if I had to leave if the trial commenses. I beg the court for a postponement of my Civic responsiblity."

They gave me the postponement. So now if I don't go, I will have perjured myself to a US Court. I think that's what they got Blagojevich on.What was I thinking? I could have gotten a free room in the Fresno Raddisson Hotel on the tax payers' nickle. Instead I'll be breathing playa dust again. Will some corporate criminal go free because of me? This year better be a good one.
