First timer here.. umm .. karaoke anyone?
im a karaoke diehard... in fact it was the deciding factor in my going this year... i had no idea such a wondrous thing could take place... to be on stage in the middle of nowhere, wearing a ridiculous costume.. who knows i might find some (at least temporary) soulmates!
i guess i just want to hear inspiring tales of mayhem and madness!

our camp is working on Karaoke every night at sundown. Still, working on the technical details.
If you are lucky enough you will run into Daniel and his Karaoke Cart. That's right, mobile, battery powered Karaoke, complete with lyric monitor, microphone and reasonably well populated song book on a hand pulled cart. Fucking briliiant!

Last year I was bum rushed by a bunch of beautiful elves. Next thing I found myself walking down the street in a wedding dress singing "Young Americans" and doing very badly thank you very much. It was the night that Mars came closest to Earth before he turned away and it was only the start of much weirdness.
Stuart that was the same set-up the elf camp had, are you with them?

He set up as "Kamikaze Karaoke" last year - HE picked what you sang. As someone with a decent voice and a solid knowledge of what I can sing, this was frustrating in the extreme.stuart wrote:If you are lucky enough you will run into Daniel and his Karaoke Cart. Anything purple is mine. Anything else can be dyed or painted.
hey blyslv
my brother is the Absinthe elf. I went on their absinthe crawl for a bit. I am not an elf though, they got way too much drama for this boy. I think elfenland is no more this year but Daniel will likely be back with Karaoke cart. In my experience he never had to force anyone to sing anything. He was like the playa pied piper with that thing.
So, maybe I did meet ya last year.

hell yeah!
this all sounds amazing! i for one have done so much karaoke i kind of like it when other people pick songs for me (we call it "scareoke")! although for some reason when i imagine myself there, i am singing "the safety dance". . . it makes sense though because people will fuss and fuss and take forever to pick their songs.... i will definitely be looking for all of these folks! ive heard its really hard to find people on the playa... like even your own friends.. there are roughly "streets" right? does it help to have some kind of distinct light-up costume for nighttime? like maybe a big el wire sign that says "karaoke slut" fixed upon some kind of hat........
it can be tough to find folks. Somehow though, you and all your lost pals all end up back at camp at the same time to stock up on more nightly supplies. Wierd, but it works that way.
if ya want karaoke I would check the what where when guide. More than likely some camps will be doing it as a planned thing.

Karaoke at Sundown
Hi Stuart,
the mobile karaoke is available to you & crew at sundown if that helps with the technical details. I'm camping with Bruce & Kathy this year - not far from you I'm sure.
We're also doing a mobile tea house art car (still working on fixing up the golf cart to pull it).

We had three song books for people to pick from, and lovely assistants (usually Mike & Bruce) who would pass out Jello shots, hand out the songbooks and gather song requests. By dawn the process broke down a little....
