I work for the state highway department: aka Nevada DOT.
Do everything from sittin in our crews office doing nothing til I get yelled at, to picking trash/debris, to repairing gaurdrail, fencing, signs etc that get hit to plowing snow. Doing traffic control at accidents (incidents, as they have be termed now) is always fun.
Main area I plow is I80 from Farad, sometimes Floriston in CA east to exit 32 in Nevada. Everything else is done only in Nevada.
Best part about the job is being temporarly re-assigned to work in Virginia City since it's a 15 minute drive as opposed to 45 minutes to Reno.
It never was my dream job but it pays the bills and keeps a roof over our heads and I get great time off so my wife and I can take a "road trip" of sorts during the summer . If it was'nt for that, I'd much rather be self employed or work in the private sector driving trucks. There is so much hypocrcy, bull shit, two faced attitudes, back stabing, "if you don't do something the way I do it you're doing it wrong" (even though the same results will be accomplished) type mentalities.
*I hate my job ,I hate my co-workers and I wish feral cats would eat them.*
