Been Burning sence 98 and I 've never had to deal with this question.
Can any one on the outside get in touch with me in case of an emergency when Im in BRC? My wife and I have a 9 month old baby girl that will stay with grandma for the week, and we are a little freaked about not being in touch. She went last year but in Mom's belly and I would like bring her when she's a bit older but not quite yet. So does any one have any info on this?

It's unrealistic to expect that you'll be tracked down by anyone based on an emergency or even a death in the family.

Lasy year we a had a fellow who drove from..Colorado I think because his dad died and his brother was on the playa at the time. There's no way that LEO will commit their limited number of personnel to help track down a single person in a group of 30+ thousand people. Not even with some personal info ("He's camping in a tent and has dreadlocks").

If you're worried about your child you need to make arrangements with the poeple who're watching the kid and give them every bit of info possible that will help them track you down should something happen.

Yes, I do believe you can rent a satellite phone and bring it out there. I seem to remember it costing about $35, but that doesn't include any phone calls.
