the Possibilty of Dajarum Blacks on the way to the burn?

Post by Bexx » Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:46 pm

I was just wondering if anyone has bought the now Illegal Clove Cigs on tribal lands heading towards the Burn? like at the I-80 Smoke shop in Pyramid Lake? Or if you know of some place else? I would love to give them some business in the way of Cloves... oh man, to be able to buy a case would be so nice.

Now illegal? huh?

EDIT: WOW.. I had nooooooooo idea.. that sucks. Bad. I'm not a smoker, but I'll take a few drags off of a clove at the right moment..

I'm going to try calling around and seeing what's up. They all seem to be closed at this hour though. Here are a few numbers:

yeah - I'm not a regular smoker - but I love having a clove every so often. It happened at the end of last year? or around the new year. claiming that "they were the gateway" to smoking actual tobacco. Imna check out the numbers you posted.. so thanks for the info!

They relabeled them as cigars, made them a bit fatter and sell them in smaller 12 packs еverywhere.

The flavored law applies only to cigarettes, not cigars and pipe tobacco.

Well I may make the effort to bring a pack or 5 from canada. but same deal here, they are filterless now I think.

I smoked djarums in Indonesia (where they are from) and they had lots of different types that weren't as harsh but were still cloves :)

After goggling a bit, I found a bunch of posts mentioning how you can still get them on Indian reservations. Curious what I can find out tomorrow..

Read my lips:

I get them in Los Angeles at the corner likker store and 7-11.

No need to go to a sovereign nation for them.

My neighborhood smoke shop sells the cartons for $45. The majority of likker stores here have them too. The only difference in them is they are wrapped with tobacco instead of paper. I do not think they taste as good as the cigarettes tho,,,,,,

We stocked up before the law changed, and they've been in the freezer since then. We'll be bringing a few packs with us. Maybe we'll run into each other somewhere ;)

They reformulated them more than that. I don't like the new ones at all.

I just called 5 different Indian smokeshops in NV, and all of them only carry the newer clove cigars. No Djarum clove cigs to be had.

Lame.

I miss the unfiltered Djarum internationals. The only class B cigarettes I ever saw.

Appalling. According to wiki they were banned because big tobacco lobbied against any other flavoring in cigarettes besides their own. You can get regular smokes, menthol smokes, but any other flavor is banned.

How stupid is that? They could have whole marketing campaigns around their flavor options. Maybe they think it would be construed as being aimed at kids (and maybe it would be).

Don't get me wrong, I think tobacco companies are evil and try to keep the addictiveness of their product under a veil of secrecy; clove cigarettes are vile; and if my dad hadn't smoked he might have lived longer and in better shape. (word freak note: Evil, vile, live, all in on sentence. Cool, huh? Going back to see if I can work in 'Veil'. Oooh, I did it! It reads a bit clumsy, but still.)

But if there's one thing worse to me than an evil big company it's a stupid evil big company that can't even tell its own self interest.

(selling a legal product = just business. Selling a deadly legal product = still just business. Selling a deadly legal product while trying to convince people that the health risks are minimal and trying to get special treatment from the government = evil).

Boijoy - serious question? I think it's a cigar partly hollowed out and filled with pot. Rappers etc are always "smokin' big blunts".

Wiki say: A Blunt, sometimes known as a "stick", "bleezy", "fatty" or "L", is cannabis rolled with a cigar wrapper (tobacco leaf).[11] Blunts are usually rolled using low quality cigars or specially made blunt wraps. Typical cigar brands used for rolling blunts include Dutch Masters, Games, Phillies Blunts, Optimos, White Owls, Swisher Sweets, and Backwoods. Users split or cut open the cigar, dispose of the tobacco and roll up cannabis in the cigar paper or leaf.

Urban dictionary says, well, a lot of things

yeah. Thats why I was confused. I think I knew blunts were pot, but I see them sold at corner stores with tabacco in them.
Seriously,, why go to ALL that trouble? Just get some flavored rolling papers and roll your shit up.. silly kids!

Guessing: 1) Cool people say it's cool. 2) people think it's slightly camouflaged (although I think you'd want to do something about that smell) 3) You can roll up a whole lot more pot in a great big leaf than in rolling papers.

Because flavored papers were included in the ban actually

They do just sell blunt wrappers though, which are yummy

That law makes me laugh because clove cigarettes got me to quit smoking. I started with regular cigarettes, at some point switched to cloves. Then something in my head went "Ugh!" and I quit. I will have a regular cigarette now and again when I've had a few drinks, but I can't abide cloves at all.

I think that was the original reason given for the ban.
