Google Earth map of Burning Man 2010
Here is a file for Google Earth, displaying Burning Man 2010. Perhaps it should have been posted earlier for theme camps to prepare, but here it is.

Note: for this to display properly, you need to uncheck the bottom item in the list on the left.

Actually you can..portaplaya wrote:Unfortunately you cannot currently view any user-made files, such as KMZs, in the mobile version of Google Earth. You can only view layers, which does not help in this case.
First, convert the .kmz to .kml. iPhone won't work with .kmz files. Use a converter like this:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/K ... 00915.html
Second, upload the file to your Google maps account
Then, open the GE app in your iPhone, and go to the options.. then my maps.. then login to your Google maps account. You can then access your user created .kml.
But.. I can't get it to work offline. It wants to grab it off the server every time. I found a work around to pre-cache google maps onto your phone for use offline. Wondering if it would be possible to overlay this into it.. There has to be a way.

I've actually managed to convert the .kmz file to the .kml and have it uploaded directly into my google maps so it's stored locally instead of being a link. It took it directly from the file supplied in the first post. Trying now to find the right client program manager to upload to the iphone. I saw a youtube video on it earlier.. trying to find it again. Too many side distractions though lol

I'm soooooooooo close..
I found this program:
you can get the program from here:
http://www.in7ane.com/psp/gmdl.html
This allows you to download the google map, and export it to the iphone for use offline. I can pull up the custom google map of BRC through the client program, but when I go to download it.. it doesn't show it in the tiles.
Someone techy'er than I needs to play with this program, because it seems uber powerful and I know the answer is in this somewhere.. I'm going to keep playing with it..
