PS.. Accuweather called this a week ago now.. I'm telling you.. their long range models aren't just based on "averages".. they have some great long range forecasting. They get it right more than anyone IMHO.

YMMV, but we use and compare them to everyone else and they always come closest. No one is a psychic and can tell you how long it's going to rain for, come on. You look at trends and say ok a cool down will happen on this day or it has a good chance of raining. Expecting psychic abilities and getting upset because they said it would rain all day and it only rained a little bit.. come on. They said it would rain, and that's what you need to know.

We know a cold front is coming on those days, yes. May rain, yes. That's the important stuff

If they say 100% chance of rain, hour by hour, for a full day, and it stops raining after 10am, they are FOS.

..and that one experience makes them FOS forever, always, for all forecasts, forever and ever. I see..

*cough*cough*

I'm still pissed about it. It was only 2 weeks ago. Perhaps someday I'll get over it. :D

We may warm up later in the week but no way to tell at this point.
Good thing I'll be working the Gate with a full gear on. Sounds like D-lot is going to suck, though.

Another of those you won't know unless you ask questions...

In the picture below, taken from the Burningman weather page, which way is the wind blowing - "from" the point or "to" the point?

What is the "Normal" direction for the Playa winds? I'd like to position my vehicle to be a wind block for my tent.

You know it's going to be a bad day when you jump out of bed and miss the floor.

The term they use is "out of" so the wind is "out of" the SE. Or from.

It's the "from" direction.
From SE, blowing toward Oregon Coast
Prevailing winds are from the SW

Thanks guys - I thought I remembered that when talking about wind it was "backwards" from the arrow.

actually, accuweather gets their models from the spc, but as far as real time, ie: severe thunderstorms, etc, accuweather is about a 7 to 11 minute delay on their radar to real time transmit. but i would say accuweather or the storm prediction center ( www.spc.noaa.gov) for long term forecasts. have a great trip!
